Sister Dearest

The young woman watched the two slumbering twins; 'She must have had a nightmare'. A slow smile crept to her lips as she took cautious steps towards the king-sized bed. The room obviously belonged to the female of the pair, as even in the dark Elle could see the various pink objects belonging to the girl. The two never stirred as Elle stood beside the bed.

"Time to wake up," she whispered, blue sparks dancing in her hands as she leaned over the unsuspecting pair.

The older woman reached out for the two sleeping teens; her hands just brushed against the fabric that covered the twins’ shoulders when two sets of eyes shot up. Elle yelped and fell back as different sensations ran up her arms. The left arm felt as though it'd been frozen while the right felt as though it were on fire.

The darkness vanished as one of the twins ran to the light switch; both staring wide eyed at the fallen blonde.

"Geez, I come in to say hello and end up frozen and burnt," Elle huffed as she playfully glared at the twins, who now stood side by side.

"Elle...is that really you?" The blonde haired boy asked.

Elle rolled her eyes as she stood to her feet, shaking off the feeling of her arms; "Of course it's me silly!" She stuck out her tongue, "who else would come in to shock you two awake?"

"That's Elle all right," the female twin stated, a small smirk playing on her lips, "we can't be too careful. We've heard all about that Sylar guy whose after people like us."

The older blonde nodded and extended her arms, "well, aren't you going to give your older sister a hug? Really I thought you'd have better manners then this with how those Evans people raised you. Come on Ryan, Sharpay."

She motioned for them with her fingers when neither took a step towards her. The twins stood still until the older woman began to pout and quickly went to hug her. With a mischievously smile Elle swept the pair in her arms, ruffling Ryan's hair with an added shock that caused the teenage boy to yelp.

"Ow, god Elle that hurt!" Ryan complained, removing himself from the childish older woman. Sharpay extracted herself before she received similar treatment.

"It's just a bit of sibling love, Ry," Elle teased, "no need to cry."

"I'm not crying!" Ryan pouted, turning away to fall back on the bed.

Sharpay rolled her eyes, "What's brought you back here? Is there trouble?"

The playfulness left Elle's eyes.

"Tomorrow you two are coming with me," she stated with no room for arguments.

The twins glanced at each other worriedly before returning their attention to their older sister, "Why?"

One word slipped from her lips, "Sylar."

Sharpay frowned; "we can take care of ourselves."

"Just listen, okay. Sylar's gotten his powers back and he'll be on the rampage. I'd feel better if the two of you were with me so that I could watch you, okay?" Elle stated her eyes more serious then ever.

"You were never one to really show much care before Elle. Why now?" Ryan asked, curious for the real purpose of the visit.

Elle sighed; "look I'm trying to care. I wouldn't be able to live with myself if something happened to you two. You're...my only family right now."

Sharpay blinked, "What happened to that Bob man?"

Elle scowled,"I would rather not talk about it," her expression softened slightly at the twins, "will you come with me?"

The twins looked at one another once more, silently communicating with one another. Elle couldn't help to roll her eyes; she'd always found their little twin connection odd. She waited patiently as they came to conclusion, the two smiling as they returned their attention to the older sibling.

"We'll come!" They stated together.

She smiled in relief.

"But," Ryan's smile grew.

"You're going to spend the night with us!" Sharpay finished, closing the bedroom door and motioning towards the bed.

Elle rolled her eyes; "I'm a little too old for slumber parties."

"Then we don't leave with you tomorrow," Sharpay stated with a shrug, following after Ryan who had begun to make his way back under the covers.

"Since when have you been so cold?" Elle asked, easing her shoes of giving into the small demand.

The twins smiled, "We learned from the best."

Another roll of the eyes and Elle found herself sandwiched between two seventeen-year-olds, who seemed quite content to use her as a pillow. It didn't take long for the teens to return back to sleep; Elle glanced at the pair. Both alike and yet so different from her. She hadn't been there much for them before, but they were family and she'd be damned if harm came to them now. The older woman pressed kissed to the top of their heads. She wanted to fight for them, protect them from harm. Blue sparked dancing on her finger tips as she extended her hand in front of her.

"I pity the fool who will try to hurt them."

End.
