After a day of riding the elevators up and down (what a strangely exciting feeling!) Ahio was occupying himself with more pleasant activities. His music, for instance ( Read more... )

Now that was not something one heard or saw very often. Which could be why, at the cusp of darkness, a snowy owl turned in her flight path and settled on the window ledge to listen.

Ahio stretched his arms over his head, and arched his back. A few bones cracked back into place, making the angel groan. He leaned back in his chair, the narrow backing supporting him comfortably between the wings, and folded hands behind his neck. There was nothing more soothing than listening to the perfect harmonies of Uriel and Hagar. Not even Gaaron's beautiful tenor could match Uriel.

A glimpse of white by the window caught his eye. He turned and smiled when he saw the owl. Ahio stood and crossed the spacious room to lift the latch and let the bird in. "Well, it seems I have a visitor! Or someone looking to get out of the cold," he said amused. "Come in then, shake the snow from your wings."

Mmm, pretty . . .

The owl hopped inside and spread her wings to shake the moisture from them, blinking calmly at him for a moment as she resettled -

- and then, very abruptly, there was a woman calmly sitting on the windowsill. "Thank you, dear, it is rather chilly out."

Ahio wasn't as startled as he'd been when the cat he'd picked up the other day had turned into Bast, the goddess. He just laughed and smiled.

"Do all animals around here turn into beautiful women?"

"You know, drinking milk will help with that sort of thing."

The molting. He picks up a feather from the spot where he's standing in the doorway and gives the other angel a small, secret smile. It would be nice to have his kind here again.

Ahio startled a bit, having been concentrating so hard on the music, and trying to think of just the right notes.

"Oh! Hello," Ahio grinned sheepishly and reached to turn the music down. "Sorry, was the music to loud?"

"Not at all, my dear." Aziraphale smiled a little and ran his hand through his hair.

"I did not quite believe Mark when he told me there was another angel here."

"Mark...oh yes! The man who led me here from the clinic," Ahio smiled. And then tilted his head. "Another angel? Someone told me I might run into another one." Not seeing any wings on the man in his doorway, Ahio assumed he was talking about someone he knew.

Ahio stood from his chair suddenly. "Ah! How rude of me," he held out a hand. "I am Ahio."
