Having read through a lot of the literature available at the magic shop, Christopher hasn't managed to learn much about the village and the demons that must have created or at least banned him to this realm. Frankly - he needs a break from his research which seems to be going nowhere. It's frustrating him ( Read more... )

"Slow night?" Balthazar seemed to just suddenly be sitting at the bar a few stools down from the man. There might have been the slight sound of fluttering wings too, if you were paying attention.

He reached for his glass of scotch and took a sip from it.

Christopher didn't notice the man's arrival, but he hasn't kept an eye on the door, he's been studying the few people around.

"Seems like it."

He studies the newcomer. Another person he's having trouble to read. There seem to be many of those in the village. He's getting used to it, but that doesn't mean he's not curious about these people.

He took another sip before looking over in the man's direction. "No date this evening?" His accent was British sounding.

"A date? No." Christopher seems amused by the question though. "Are you waiting for someone?"

"No one in particular." He wondered if Castiel would show up - not that he would admit to enjoying time with his brother.

"I do manage the building, so I suppose I could say I'm working." But as he took a sip of alcohol, it was probably evident calling what he was doing working was not accurate.

"And the job includes managing the liquor-supply as well, I suppose?"

Christopher takes a sip of his wine before speaking up again.

"Actually I had assumed the hotel was run by the village itself. But I suppose guests appearing for the hotel is similar to stock appearing in the back of the shop I manage."

"Oh, it's technically run by the village." He offered a small smile. "There's little I actually have to do at this job except for when people either want to transfer rooms or host some sort of event in the ballrooms."

And technically he was supposed to look after the complaints, but half of the complaints were 'I don't want to be here' and he couldn't exactly fix that.

"Sounds like I actually have a little more to do, though not exactly managerial work. Advising people on what to buy, mostly."

"Outfit co-ordinator?" Balthazar kept a straight face though the man definitely did not strike him as that type of working man.

"No, you usually don't buy magical items because they match your shirt."

"Ah. Magic then." He nodded, glancing at the man. "Are you a warlock then?"

"An alchemist," Christopher corrects him without any hint of emotion in his voice. It's what he started out as. He's risen above it, but if this stranger wants to put him in a box, that one still suits him.

"I've picked up a few things outside that field of expertise, though."
