Sunny Afternoons [OTA]

Apr 09, 2015 16:40

Well, the weather had certainly had its ups and downs, but this afternoon was lovely and the store was quiet, so Lana had decided to play hooky and go wandering through the village instead. She made her way along the streets, stopping into any store that caught her fancy and indulging herself with a purchase or two. On occasion she'd find a quiet ( Read more... )

It had been awhile since Cat had seen her 'twin' Lana and she smiled when she noticed her ahead of her doing some sketching.

"Now see? That alone would let anyone tell us apart because I can barely draw a straight line."

Lana laughed. "I guess that would be a test. Sit us down and make us draw. How are you doing, Cat?"

"I'm doing well." While Cat missed keenly, the people that she'd bonded with in the village when they left, she was glad that others stayed. "Still miss home, though not as much as I probably should." She crinkled her nose, "don't tell my family and friends." Cat was kidding, of course.

"How have you been, Lana?"

"My friends wouldn't be at all surprised to find I was happy here," Lana said a bit ruefully. Not after what had been happening when she left.

"I'm doing well. The store's going great and I've finally found a really nice guy."

Loki was, well, perhaps 'nice' was the wrong term for him. Exciting with an edge of danger about him, was better, but he'd always been wonderful to her.

"A guy huh?" Cat smiled wide, "So ... who is it?" She was very glad that Lana had found someone. And she hoped the guy knew about doppelgangers because that could be embarrassing.

Lana and Loki hadn't ever really talked about her having a doppleganger, but he seemed to know everything that went on in the village anyway.

"His name is Loki," Lana said with a bit of a blush. "He's tall and handsome and funny and treats me like a queen. It's nice - really nice. It's been a long time since I was with someone."

"Funny and treats you well is always a very good thing." Cat said, glad to see the younger woman happy, truly happy. "And being by yourself is also good. It means that you're confident in yourself and don't need someone else to complete you. You can find happiness on your own but it's nice to share it with someone."

"I'm prefering the sharing it with someone part at the moment," Lana said with a grin. "And how about you, Cat? Are you doing well?"

"I am." Catherine thought of Clayton. "Have you met Clayton? The man that manages the Opera in the village?" She assumed not because she didn't remember him talking about seeing someone that looked like her, unless it had been awhile ago and Cat just forgot.

ooc: Like the pup I don't remember if Clay mentioned meeting a lookalike. LOL

Lana considered for a moment, then shook her head. "No, I don't think so. Loki took me to the opera one night, so I may have seen him, but I don't think we were ever introduced."

She shook her head with a smile. "Kind of funny, isn't it? I've got a double here in the village and I get out so rarely that very few people seem to know."

"Or that I get out so rarely people don't seem to know." Cat countered with a laugh. "It's hard to give up the tendency to keep to yourself in a big city no matter how long you've been here."

"Yeah, I spent a lot of time hiding out when I arrived, and well, I'm not the most outgoing person around," Lana admitted. "Once I get comfortable with a routine or the places I like I tend to stick with them."

"In larger cities, you concentrate on people you work with or people on your floor where you live, and you pretty much keep to yourself other than that." Cat said with a wry look at Lana, "and it's hard to break that habit. I'm getting better at it and I bet you meet a lot of people in your bookshop coming to get something to read."

"I do," Lana agreed. "I meet a lot of very interesting people there and at least it gets me out and interacting with others. I wouldn't say I go on to be friends with most of them, but I do know my regulars."

"It's nice having regulars isn't it?" Cat enjoyed that part of having the music store, too. "And you miss them when they're gone even if they didn't become friends."

"It is." Lana thought about some of her favorites who came in. "It's nice having that continuity. Those times when they just.. stop coming in is hard, though, I agree. It's hard when I lose employees, too. But how can you feel bad about someone finally being able to go back home?"
