Nervous approach to that kind of holiday (Tag Glaurnaneth)

Feb 01, 2015 16:19

I've been considering for a while and have decided to chance Glaurnaneth's displeasure. Well, I don't think she'll be displeased, really, but she could be confused. The Earth holidays can get confusing and Valentine's Day does not appear to be based on anything in history. It's just based in love and I once did ask if it was so unseemly that I love ( Read more... )

The Dragon knows he moves within his rooms and opens the door between them almost immediately, wearing nothing as she usually does. She smiles broadly and greets him in a husky voice. "Minmir..."

It's no longer so disconcerting to see Glaurnaneth without clothing--that is her usual way. I just return her smile.

"Hello, Glaurnaneth." Now that she's here...

"I have a strange question for you. I've been thinking for a while about the upcoming holiday--the one called Valentine's Day."

"The one with the pink and red shapes, and all the candy?" As opposed to the others with all the candy...

"Yes, the special romantic heart shapes." As opposed to something that looked like a real heart. "And plush toys and things like that."

They had a lot of strange gifts--like children's toys for grown women.

"Besides gifts, it is traditional for a couple to enjoy supper together. I know we've done that many times, but I would like to take you to the restaurant that changes." It is a risk, as it ever is. "I would like to see what it became for us on such a day. Would you like to go out to dinner with me on Valentine's Day?"

She considers his words and nods, smiling at being thought of as a couple with him. "I would like that. Very much." She radiates contentment.

"I hope the restaurant is good to us. If it is not, we still have each others' company." I enjoyed the time that restaurant became a pizza place from Chicago, but I do not think that would be very nice for Valentine's Day.

"I was wondering also, as many ladies will have new clothing for such a date, if I might buy you a special dress. Perhaps in red, for the holiday." This is where the greatest risk lies. "I would not suggest it except that restaurants ask that you wear clothing anyway. I also think that you will look especially beautiful in red."

It's a strong colour, and her appearance is so dramatic already.

Wait... a gift? From Faramir? Her face lights up like a child at Christmas. "I would like that. Very much."

"You would?" She seems to like the idea a lot.

"Would you like to go with to pick one, or should I make it a surprise?" Oh. "Except that I'd have to ask you what size the clothes you have are."

I wouldn't know what to get. Good thing they do have sizes. She could just say the number and I could find something that way.

"Size... Let me look." She slinks off (as ever, seeking to entice him to her new favorite way to pass the time) to her small clothes storage. She lifts out a dress and reads the label. "It says 'size eight.'"

"That will be easy enough to remember. A red dress in size eight, for a special dinner."

I cannot help but wonder if she means to walk like that. I know she enjoys our physical intimacy (thank the Valar for that), but is that what she's looking for? Not that night is required for such things, but it is the middle of the day.

I also admit to being somewhat at a loss. I thought we might go out shopping. Since we aren't, perhaps we could do something else together.

"I wasn't interrupting anything, was I?"

She puts the dress back in the drawer. "I was thinking of going to the library to return the books I have borrowed, but when I heard you moving back and forth in your room, ending at the door, I knew you had something on your mind." She walks back to him with her jeans and a shirt in hand. "Would you like to come with me?"

"The library is not far." Even if it was all the way across the village it wouldn't be far. "Yes, I would like to go with you."

Olore, as if to illustrate that my mind was going in inappropriate directions, jumps on my bed and sits right in the middle. He begins to groom a paw. I smile.

"He's not hiding from you." He does, sometimes.

"Perhaps we could walk by a shop or two. Though I am excited to surprise you with a dress." I never thought before that it could be interesting to choose clothing for a woman. I've done so several times now in the village and it has not gone badly.

"He knows we will leave him in peace." The Dragon is quite fond of Olore, and of the larger alien cat down the hall. None are human and all predators. While neither of them were of a match for her, she respected them as predators in their own right.

"I should dress..."

"I don't that it's required for the library like for restaurants, but however you are comfortable." She does not wear clothing so much in her own rooms, just more when she goes out. I know she doesn't need it, but part of me feels cold at the thought of her wearing nothing outside. Ridiculous, but perhaps I just remember when I arrived in the cold with not enough clothing on.

She doesn't know in words why her nudity in public bothers Faramir. But she can sense it does. In a much truer sense than most women, she dresses for him, not for others.

She uses her hands to pull the jeans on while her tail lifts the shirt up over her head.

"Perhaps I'll find a book at the library. I haven't been reading as much as I usually do." I like to read in the winter, sitting comfortably at home.

"There's always so much in the history section that I never know where to start."
