Masquerade Ball - Gathering

Oct 31, 2014 05:54

The Masquerade Ball was different, this was a party for adults and Buffy had wanted it to be a little bit like the Ball in Labyrinth because seriously who didn’t think that David Bowie’s Jareth was the sexiest ever? So the entry for the adult party was more glamorous (at least Buffy hoped) and the interior continued that theme. There was an area ( Read more... )

Elle loved parties! And ones where she could dress up even better. She'd always wanted to be a princess, so even though this was a masquerade ball, she was mixing it up with a very elaborate gown and crown and blue mask to cover her eyes. Grinning she stepped through the entrance, taking in the scene.

It was so pretty!

A mask. A reason to wear such a thing to hide who he was.

Though his walk was still distinct, though he still shied from larger groupings of people, here he was in a mask with a hooded cape hiding the stitches in his head. He could, for this small moment, look entirely normal.

He caught sight of Elle and stopped short. She looked beautiful. He made his way closer, bowing low when he was in front of her.

Elle knew who it was as soon as she saw him near. From the walk alone. She beamed, holding hands out to him, fingers wriggling and urging him to take them, "Hey, you! I love your outfit!"

He was hidden and felt an almost ethereal sense of safety. He even took her hands in his strong, calloused ones. "Y-you look b-b-beautiful."

She did love praise, and so that caused her to glow with pleasure. "Yeah?" Elle leaned in, kissing the cheek of the mask, "Thank you! I always wanted to be a princess. So, I figured, why not?"

This was far superior to the strange haunted house that had been seen earlier. He did not like that. "Y-you would m-make a f-fine princ-cess."

She kept hold of his hands, pleased again. He was so sweet. "Thanks. And you know what this princess wants?"

Elle moved closer, bounce in her step. She did so love parties, having not been able to go to any when she'd been under the constant supervision of her father. "A dance."

"I am n-not s-s-sure I am the b-best partner for a d-dance," he was quick to say. He did, still, love music.

"I'm not asking you because I think you're the best dancer here, I'm asking because I like you." Elle said, off-handedly, shaking her head like he was just being silly. Because he was.

He'd try at least. The creature nodded and let her lead him to the dance floor.

At least in the mask and cape, no one would know it was him and laugh or feel pity. He could be braver.

She lead him to the dance floor, but he'd have to lead when they actually danced. Once they got there, she guided him to put his hands on her waist and she rested hers over his shoulders.

"I have n-never r-really d-danced," he admitted, his face hot under his mask. At least the music was a waltz.

He haltingly tried to sway.

"It's just moving back and forth. Not too hard." she teased, lightly, maybe moving a bit closer.

She smelled nice and there was a moment when he thought to back away, to hide.

He swallowed hard, his hand sliding on the fabric of her dress. "Is th-this all r-right?"

Elle nodded, pleased, "Yeah, perfect. You're getting it."

He was trying. He wanted to do things right, after all. He tried not to shuffle his feet, his eyes, through his mask, on hers.

For once, he did not look away.
