Masquerade Ball - Gathering

Oct 31, 2014 05:54

The Masquerade Ball was different, this was a party for adults and Buffy had wanted it to be a little bit like the Ball in Labyrinth because seriously who didn’t think that David Bowie’s Jareth was the sexiest ever? So the entry for the adult party was more glamorous (at least Buffy hoped) and the interior continued that theme. There was an area ( Read more... )

Rikki wasn't the ball type person, but there were a couple of times a year that she would. Christmas and Halloween, if there was one. She mostly liked feeling like Cinderella but she would never admit to that.

She found a really nice dress and mask to wear that made her feel dressy but not like a fish out of water (pun intended). Rikki wondered over to the bar area but instead of an alcoholic drink, she asked for an apple cider and sat to enjoy it.

Merlin, in a black tuxedo with bow tie, wore a mask. When he entered, he saw Rikki immediately. Sure, she was in a mask, but he could recognize her anywhere. He made a b-line toward her.

"You look beautiful." He grinned.

Rikki turned around to see Merlin and she returned the warm smile with a little curtsey. "Thanks. You look brilliant, too." And he did but then he always looked handsome to Rikki.

His smile turned into a grin at the curtsy - it was cute. "Have you been waiting long?" He might have been a bit long deciding on what exactly to wear.

"I haven't been here long." Even if that hadn't been the case, Rikki would have thought it was well worth the wait seeing Merlin.

His shoulder seemed to relax a little at the news. "I thought you might like to dance... I've gotten better." Because he may have been practicing a little.

"Sure." Rikki said and slipped her hand around his elbow without him offering or asking. "Wouldn't turn down a chance to dance with you."

"I think the more I do these, the more I'm getting better, at least." He smiled a little self deprecatingly. "I still can't seem to get the fast ones down right, though." At least not how the teenagers did it.

"Then I reckon it's a good thing I like slow dances with you better than fast ones." Rikki shot him a cheeky grin. "Or I guess it could be a bad thing because that means you might not get more practice at it."

"If danced fast like some people do here when I get back home, I'm pretty sure I'd be arrested for something. Either that or people would think I've gone mad." Or more mad, in some cases.

When they reached a part of the dance floor that wasn't super busy, Merlin placed his hands - one on her waist and the other holding her hand - and then started to dance. He also enjoyed being this close to her.

Rikki relaxed into Merlin's arms as the music slid around them. She liked being this close to him, too. "Or you might start a craze with everyone wanting to try it at the next ball at Camelot." She teased him.

He tried to picture it. "If Urther or Giaus started to dance like that, I think I'd go blind.... or wish I had a recording device like there is here to hold it against them later." He grinned, amused.

"Reckon you couldn't do a memory spell." Rikki grinned at him, "But it would be funny to watch."

He laughed a little, agreeing, as they danced. Merlin always found himself reveling in the fact of how beautiful Rikki was.

"I wish I could show you Camelot. It's beautiful there." If you ignored the hate for magic, of course.

"I wish I could see it." Rikki knew that all they'd have was the village. There were too many years between them, but that didn't stop the wish that either could be in the other's world.

"Maybe I can find some sort of spell to help..." He didn't think one existed, though.
