She's Gone (Backdated to when Kenzi left - tag Gambit)

Bo woke up to a not-so-nice surprise in the morning. When she woke up, she had made pancakes for her and Kenzi, only to find that the sweet smell of breakfast did not coax her best friend out of bed. Maybe Kenzi had slept over at Remy's last night, but Bo was pretty sure she had seen her friend go into her bedroom. Checking her room, however, led ( Read more... )

Remy had been asleep when the pounding at the door had him nearly falling out of his bed. What was that? Bleary eyed, the Cajun didn't bother to pull a shirt on, padding to the door in his boxers. But he did grab his bowstaff, just in case this pounding belonged to someone less than friendly.

He opened the door, blinking at the bright lights in the hallway, dumbfounded when he found her there, "Bo?"

She pushed passed Remy like a woman searching for the 'other woman', though her intent was less to do with rage and more to do with adamant. "Is Kenzi here?" She was really hoping he would say Kenzi decided to spontaneously move into his room for good in the middle of the night.

He watched her storm passed, staring blankly, "Kenzi... no, she's not--" Remy felt a something sinking and hard growing in his gut, "You do you ask?"

She turned around once more as if hoping that maybe Remy was just unaware that Kenzi was in his room, but when it was clear she wasn't, she turned to face the man again. Bo wanted to say it out loud, but couldn't. Her brow knitted and she ended up sinking into the couch like she had been hit in the stomach.

He set the bowstaff down against the wall, not really caring when it slid and fell to the ground with a clatter.

"She..." Gambit's throat felt ungodly dry, not moving away from the hallway, staring at Bo on the couch, "She gone ain't she?"

There was a mix of emotions swirling inside of her. Bo as devastated on one hand, but on the other, she was angry. How could the village do this?

She managed a nod as her fingers gripped the fabric at the edge of the couch strongly. Bo glanced up to Remy with a frown. "....I'm sorry...." She meant to say more, but that was all the came out.

A breath escaped him and he had to rest a hand against the wall, to steady himself. He closed his eyes, trying to calm himself, the emotions swirling around him.

He knew that back home she was... was dead. That was what she was going back to. It would have been devastating enough if she'd just left, but to know that. Grief flooded him, unable to stop the water filling his closed eyes.

Bo let out a curse and leaned forward on her knees with her elbows. "Kenz..." She ran her fingers through her hair and exhaled.

He took a deep breath, fingers curling into a fist as it dropped from the wall, "Maybe... maybe she come back. Like she did before." Remy was trying to reassure himself too, but it fell flat in his heart.

She nodded even though she didn't believe it either. "And when I get home, there is no way I'm letting anything happen to her." Bo was determined. In fact, it was that determination that shed away the pity party on her face for a moment and replaced it with a more intent look. "I promise." To herself, but also to Remy.

He met her eyes, not bothering to wipe away the tears. Remy didn't think he'd ever see Kenzi again. He wasn't from her world. But he wanted her to be alive. To be alive and happy.

"You do dat." he agreed, firm.

She held his gaze for a moment before she stood up. "Alright, we need a drink and I know a place that has booze on the house." It was Kenzi's club, which wouldn't be open right now, but Bo had the keys and Kenzi had always told her that Bo was supposed to take over if something happened. Right now all Bo wanted was the booze inside.

"A drink... yes." Remy agreed, running a hand through his hair, trying to clear the murkiness of his mind. "Just need to put on a shirt. And some pants."

Not that he cared at this point, he just wanted to get trashed.

Right. It was like Bo actually looked at him for the first time and she paused. The gaze that lingered was more hungry than lusty, but it only lasted for a moment until Kenzi's image flashed through Bo's mind and the succubus looked away.

"Alright, but the longer you take, the less drunk I am."

"I hear ya." Remy moved quickly, grabbing the first shirt and pants he could find once he got into his bedroom. The shirt probably needed washed, but he didn't care. Then he was back, "Bar. Drinks. Now."

"Good." She led the way to In and Out. The nice thing about the village was that everything was close and when you walked with determination, things seemed even closer.

Keeping the 'closed' sign on the door, Bo pushed through the door into the empty club. "Rum, Vodka, Tequila?" She was heading behind the bar already so he had to make up his mind quickly.
