Ares 'job' at The Underground was to add war mojo where the fighters would fight more intensely. He liked that everyone here was either a warrior or liked to fight. He noticed someone that wasn't a regular go to the bar that had a warrior about her. It wasn't like the more modern warriors of the village, nor was it like Xena, but the spark was there.

Maybe he'd found his female warrior in the village that didn't want to 'do good'.

He approached with a smile and a nod at the bartender to give her whatever she was drinking on him.

Jenny noticed him, how could you miss a leather clad, goatee wearing man, but she hadn't expected him to approach her. Or buy her a drink, that had been a surprise, not that she would ever turn down free beer.

"Thanks." She held out her hand, "I'm Jenny."

At least she had started the introductions with her name rather than ask who he was. It was a nice change.

"Ares." He took her hand and just held it, rather than releasing it, and looked into her eyes. "Are you signed up to fight?" He could pretty much guess that she was.

Jenny almost snickered out a laugh at this being Ares but while she fought against the apocalypse of the one god that didn't mean others didn't exist.

"Ares. Not really surprised to find the god of war in a fight club." She raised the drink in salute.

It was nice to be recognized, even if the recognition was after the fact.

He leaned in to whisper, "if you play your cards right, I can give you an extra boost." Ares winked, "it won't be god powered, just hints on how to use what's already there."

"Oh hell go ahead and god power me." Jenny smirked, "I'm okay with using every advantage I have."

Ares liked the way she thought. He might have finally found one.

"I like that." He took a long drink from his ale, "I just might to see what you do with it."

Jenny set her beer down and opened her arms, elbows bent. "Knock yourself out. So how would I know if I have god mojo or not? Something sparkly happen?"

Ares rolled his eyes but the amusement was still there. "That's more Aphrodite's way of doing things." He reached out with his arm and touched her forehead. His voice warm and low, "you should get a tingling sensation."

Jenny wasn't sure if the warm and low sensation was from standing next to Ares who was a very handsome man - god - whatever.

"Hmm, so what can I do now? Shoot lightning from my hands?"

Ares laughed and shook his head, "not yet. That comes later if I give you that." That's not something that he even gave to Xena so this mortal wouldn't get it but it was fun to tease her.

Her eyebrow arched up, "well okay then, what's the toy surprise that I do get?"

Ares used his chin to indicate the ring, "you'll find out in there." His amusement still clear. "I promise you, you won't be disappointed."

"Okay, fair enough." Jenny smiled over the rim of her glass. "I'm used to thinking on my feet, I'll keep an eye out and see what happens when I kick some ass."

"And I look forward to seeing it." Ares assured her. Then brought the mug of ale to his lips for a drink, his gaze not leaving hers.

"Are you still training here?" He was pretty sure the answer was yes as she didn't strike him as the kind that wouldn't always be prepared.

"Hell yeah. I'm at the shooting range every day and I hit the gym at least every other day." When she didn't do training on her own that was.
