Riley closed the door and leaned back against it. It had been a long night but at least Gabriel had been cleared and the deep mole exposed. Another beer probably wouldn’t be bad or a long hot shower, maybe both - definitely both, she thought as she pushed herself off the door and headed toward the kitchen first.
As she turned around with a chilled bottle of beer, Riley decided that a bit of fresh air out on the balcony wouldn’t hurt either. When the glass door opened and she stepped out, the sounds of the city greeted her. It was actually relaxing and she sunk into the patio chair, her eyes closed.
The instant that the white noise of traffic left, Riley’s eyes popped open. She was on a park bench next to a lake. “The hell?” The beer bottle was sat down instantly and she didn’t immediately draw her weapon, but she was on alert. She pulled out her cell phone and cussed when there wasn’t a signal. Wherever she was, she had to find a phone or a computer. Either would work.
