Knitting and Relaxing

Castiel was glad to see that things had settled down here in the village again. The dinosaurs had been gone for about week, and he hadn't been female in well over a month- though, really, there didn't seem to be many repercussions, and he may have actually enjoyed himself just a little in the end. He wasn't sure if Axl would ever come back for ( Read more... )

"Cas." Sam had spotted the angel from a distance and quickly veered off towards him. It was the first time he had seen the other man since his experience of going back home and going through what he had.

Basically, it was his first time seeing Cas since the angel had taken his madness away.

"Hey." He offered a somewhat awkward smile as he lifted his hand in greeting.

Of course Cas knew Sam had left, but there wasn't much he could have done but do a quick search around the village for signs of any foul play. He couldn't quite figure out when Sam left, however, but... well, at least he was back again?

Castiel stood up once he saw Sam coming over, and set down the knitting needles and yarn. He looked the younger Winchester over.

"Sam, you're older now." He smiled back, then moved in for a hug.

[[Hope you're caught up with the series because this was one of my favorite parts of Season 9!]]

[[I am close! Awww, hugs!]]

"Yes, I...uhh.." He paused as Cas actually went in for a hug. Not that he minded as he hugged the other man back, offering that slight smile of his.

"I just got back a few days ago." He nodded as they parted. "Right when dinosaurs were running around." A briefly amused look.

"The dinosaurs were a little unfair for everyone." Cas agreed. "A few of the smaller herbivores would have been nice to keep here, though."

"You mean like a pet?" He asked with a soft chuckle because he could actually see Cas doing that.

"Sure, why not? We could keep them at The Sanctuary, and have a whole room for just them." He grinned, but then his smile faded just a little. "Of course, a problem would arise if they were all herbivores because their population would grow immensely without any carnivores hunting them. And they would need special plants and I'm sure the water and air have many more pollutants than they used to back then... or else they'd die of disease."

Cas shook his head as if to push that thought away. See, this was just another reason why he couldn't play God. He cleared his throat. "Anyway, it's good to see you, Sam." And of course he meant it.

Sam stood there listening to Cas with a small smile as he talked about the issues of keeping some of the dinosaurs around and then he nodded slowly. "It's good to see you too, Cas. Really good."

"What is happening back home for you right now? Wait, don't tell me..." He looked the young man over, tilting his head. "You're from before me, I can tell that much."

"Uh, yeah, maybe." He nodded slowly, trying not to think about how weird it was at times that they came from different parts of their time line.

"We just...defeated Dick Roman." He shrugged slowly. More importantly, Dean and Cas had both disappeared. After Cas had helped Sam to stop being so crazy.

"Oh, then just a little before me. That's the last time I saw you, Sam." He meant back home, but he didn't think he had to clarify. "Dean and I were transported to Purgatory. Even I lost count of the days there. Dean was able to leave with the help of a vampire named Benny. I... was there a bit longer, and then was sent here."

Cas had stayed there on his own accord, thinking he didn't deserve to be anywhere but Purgatory (or, possibly, Hell) to be punished for his actions. He still blamed himself for a lot of things, but knew that guilt wouldn't change anything.

""I still can't believe you two ended up in Purgatory." He murmured, shaking his head.

He was silent for a moment before gesturing at Cas's head. "So are you feeling...better here?" He was still worried about the effects of taking his madness.

Oh, right. That.

"You mean am I crazy still? No, I'm okay. You shouldn't be worried about me, but you do have every right to be angry with me."

Sam got a confused little look at that. "Why?"

Cas blinked, looking over at him. "For pulling you out of the Cage without your soul in the first place. It was an accident." The Cage was different than Hell, and Cas didn't have an army backing him like he'd had with Dean. He risked letting Lucifer and Michael free when he did it as well.

"For deceiving you and your brother. For working with Crowley. For... becoming what I became. A monster. For opening Purgatory and letting the Leviathan in." Did he need to say more?

"Cas..." Sam shook his head, reaching out to clap a hand over his shoulder. "Don't worry about it. You thought you were doing the right thing. Plus...we have all done really stupid stuff over the years. Let's just be glad we're all okay, okay?"

Castiel nodded, but he still looked a little worried. "Okay."

Well, he knew there was plenty more stupid to come when it came to Team Free Will.

"Are you still going to work at the bowling alley or somewhere else this time? I know Anna decided that being a waitress wasn't her thing anymore when she returned."
