Say....Ahhhh! (ota)

Eli, at first, had been entirely freaked out about the situation. He had seen Jurasic Park about 700 times and so he knew what kind of bad things can happen when you mix humans and dinosaurs. But as the time went on, things didn't seem to escalate. There was no trembling water or scary door-opening raptors so Eli decided to use this time as a good ( Read more... )

"Out of the frying pan, Eli?" Khan asked, grabbing for his arm. The ex-ruler, ex-terrorist had been standing behind the lab manager when he turned to run, watching from several feet back. Silent and scary as ever.

"Holy shit!" Which was more out of surprise of the man's sudden, perceived appearance alongside the fact his body jerked a little when Khan grabbed his arm.

The 'leader' of the dinosaurs took the opportunity to leap up and bite Eli on his ass. Thankfully Eli had jeans on and he just felt a pinch.

Still. "Did it just bite me?!"

Khan looked. "Yes. Hold still. And try not to scream."

He reached back behind Eli to grab for the dino with his free hand.

"As small as these are, they will run from a bold front." What he didn't say was that if they were much larger, they wouldn't.

It took a little bit of will for Eli not to scream. Mostly he just wanted to run down the street flailing his arms like a crazy person. He felt it was a totally valid way to respond since there were freaking dinosaurs everywhere.

He held his breath dramatically.

A quick, pinching grasp of the inside of the dino's nostrils and the soft flesh within was enough to make the bite stop.

Perhaps unnecessarily, Khan dangled the creature by that grip. "If you run, they will chase you."

"Are you sure they won't eat me if I don't run?" He was starting to remember the scene from Jurassic Park 2 on the beach, now. Not a fun way to go.

"These won't. Unless there are a lot of them, and you allow yourself to be surrounded."

He threw the dinosaur aside, finally releasing it from the painful hold.

"How do you know so much about dinosaurs?" Eli turned around slowly while rubbing his butt. The one dinosaur that was tossed seemed to be taking its sweet time getting up and the other two looked like they were reconsidering whatever idea they had in their heads.

"I know predators. When they have the numbers to ensure a win, they attack."

Khan abruptly dropped into a wide-armed and -legged stance, shouting at the dinos aggressively, hands in tight fists and teeth showing.

The fled, and Khan straightened again. "There's no food for a dead or wounded hunter," he said just as conversationally as he'd started off.

It was strange for Eli to both be terrified by Khan and being thankful he was there. He was also pretty sure that Khan could scare off a T-Rex - and thank God those weren't around!

"I'll have to remember that...though I'm kind of hoping these dinosaurs are a temporary thing and not a permanent addition to the village."

"Until we know for certain, I would recommend going to the opera house or the theatre for stage performances. Take cover on the catwalks over the stage. The predators will not want to risk themselves up there."

That was... actually some pretty sound advice. Eli knew it was pretty good, too, since he had seen all the movies.

"Is that what you're going to do?"

"No. I'm going to the shooting range for weapons." Real Khans didn't hide.

Okay, so Eli should have figured that out. He nodded.

"Okay... that's probably a good idea too." He ran his hand through his hair.

"Uh... thanks. By the way." Which was so weird to say to him.

Khan nodded to Eli. "Go, get to safety. Warn as many others as you can."

Khan turned and headed for the firing range, intending to liberate as many weapons as he could carry.

And he could carry and use a LOT of firepower.
