John had noticed a lot of people were acting out of the ordinary. At first he had written it off as a side effect of Valentine's Day. While it had been a while since he, himself, celebrated it, he remembered what it used to be like. He had never really taken to the particular 'holiday' as he did with Christmas and Halloween. It probably had something to do with his mother's practical nature. Halloween was a good excuse to move around in a costume and be unseen and Christmas was a good excuse to buy new guns and ammunition. John was pretty sure he had been one of a few eight year-old boys to get a rocket launcher for Christmas.
He walked slowly through the streets of Haurvatat. It was nice to finally have the cast off. It felt easier to move and he finally convinced his daughter to let him go out about town without the need of one of her dogs, or her. He still had Alissa on his mind. He had been putting off the conversation with Leoben for several reasons and the main one had to do with the fact Leoben was the father of his grandchild. Something had to be done, though. Alissa was a threat to not just him, but the village, in her current state.
His expression became thoughtful as he continued to walk and glance into shop windows.
