"You should probably avoid doing electrical work if you didn't turn off the power first." Martha smiled as she wrapped Eli's hand up in a bandage. It wasn't a life-threatening injury, but Eli had managed to burn himself pretty good. It seemed to Martha that people were far more prone to injuries around the holidays than any other time. She had previously treated a man who had fallen off a ladder putting up Christmas lights.
"I know." Eli wished his hand would just stop stinging. "It's hard when you have other people working for you who need things to be constantly on."
Martha nodded. "Well. You can send them to me if they have an issue. I don't want to see you in again for electrical burns or we're going to have a problem." She smiled, though, because while she was stating the truth, she also liked Eli and knew he had had good intentions.
Eli stood. "Promise."
Martha smiled back more fully. "Good. Now have a good day, yeah?"
Eli left the clinic with his right hand bandaged. He planned on going to the ice cream parlour - ice cream always made your injuries feel better. It was a scientific fact.
Martha, on the other hand, proceeded down the hall and into the waiting room to see if she had any other paitents.
