Paris was headed back to the library to return some books when he noticed the poor bewildered--handsome--young man in his night clothes looking around. "Are you lost?" He asked with a friendly smile, taking off the earplugs of his iPod.
"About ten to ten in the morning, June the eighth of the year 2013." Always that 2013 would take some getting used to. "You are new to Haurvatat." The poor man looked as distraught as Paris had in the hospital. "What is the last thing you remember?" He shut off his iPod to give the man his undivided attention.
Paris saw the panic flash across his eyes, "Here, why don't you take a seat?" He indicated toward a bench. "My name is Paris and I too arrived recently here to this village. I was as confused and frightened as you are."
"This is Haurvatat and from what I am told you will not find it on any map." Paris said solemnly.
Will swayed on his feet, the heel of one hand pressed to his temple. "I... I need to find it on a map and I need to get back to Baltimore." No, this ... this couldn't be. It wouldn't be. He had to force himself to be sane.
"Baltimore?" Paris never heard of the place. "Is that where you are from? Are you from 2013 or earlier? The village is....well, it takes people from different eras and brings them here. There is no way back, none that any of the residents have found." Paris said softly. He took his unopened water bottle (unused) and offered it to the man. "Perhaps I should take you to the clinic? You seem out of sorts? Please, please do sit down." Again he tried to get the man to sit on the bench.
"Get - " Will jerked from his grasp. "... your hands off me," he uttered almost apologetically. Even if he hadn't touched him - don't touch him.
He was already covered again in sweat; it got into his eyes - he blinked, pressing his hands to his eyes. Maybe he had gone crazy. Maybe he'd lost it. "I need to speak to Jack Crawford."
Paris backed away a look of hurt on his face,he was only trying to help. "I don't know Jack Crawford but I can see if he is here." He placed the water bottle in a neutral spot in case the man wanted to take it. "What is your name?" Paris asked still keeping his distance and taking out his smart phone. "When you get to the hotel, you will find a phone will the directory or address book? Anyways, it will list everyone who is in the village." Paris began searching. "Sorry, there is no Jack Crawford only a Jack Harkness." He showed the phone to the stranger to show him, from a distance.
Paris pulled the phone close to him, his eyes misty. "Please, do not yell at me. I am only trying to help. I know you are scared and confused, I've been there, believe me, but I did not do this to you, please do not focus your frustration out on me."
He pointed in the direction of the hotel. "That is where all the inhabitants of Haurvatat reside. But they will basically tell you what I have." He sniffed a little. "Your room will have some provisions, however. Mine did when I arrived."
"I'm ... sorry," Will managed despite the pounding of his head, the panic and anxiety. "I'm ... you're right. I'm just ... I'm confused. And scared. I didn't mean to take it out on you."
He was only feeling as if he was finally, truly going insane. With an almost hopelessness, he looked out at the trees and he blinked, stiffening.
"I know this can all be a lot to take in. I thought I was insane when they told me the year and where I was. I thought the poisoned arrow affected my head somehow--when I awoke here I didn't even know this English everyone speaks, I was truly terrified.
"I understand your confusion. Why don't we walk to the hotel, find your room and see if you can find any answers there?" Paris followed the man's gaze to where he was looking but saw only a bird. "Are you sure you don't want any water?"
"The elk?" Paris looked up again but saw only the bird. Maybe he needed a session or two with Dr. Hopper. "Umm..." Paris shifted to get another look at the tree to be absolutely certain then he saw the shadow of the leaves form into that of an elk. "Is that what you see? The patterns of the leaves? yes, it does look like an elk from this angle."

Nothing made sense. Nothing.

An elk.
He swallowed hard.
