Anna had been in a good mood lately. Things were finally starting to look up for her, and that was nice. The long days at the restaurant when the people never seemed to end even were more bearable now. It helped that Spring was in the air, too.
She left work after her shift. The sun was still out in the late afternoon and Anna decided she'd walk through the park before she went home and as she did, Anna found herself at the memorial fountain. She stopped and sat down on the edge of the fountain and looked at the memorial close by. It was a spot not many in the village visited.
Her attention broke off to the children playing and laughing in the distance. It made Anna smile. She glanced the other way and that was when Anna caught a glimpse of something in the fountain. She got up and faced the fountain. There seemed to be a box in the water. Anna had to lean on the edge of the fountain and stretch her arm and fingers to the straining part until she was able to grab the box and bring it out of the water.
She turned it over in her hand. What a strange find. The box seemed somewhat familiar to her, but she couldn't place it.
