Thinking about stuff ... [OTA]

Gabriel was gone - it sort of sucked. On the one hand, the guy was family, and the sort who wasn't actually trying to either kill Aaron or get him to redeem them. On the other hand, Debra was gone, too. Of course, it wasn't a guarantee that the two of them ended up together, but Aaron wanted to believe it. The archangel was dead, after all (yeah, ( Read more... )

Chuck was sad that Gabriel had left too, but then Chuck had the satisfaction of knowing he wasn't dead and was very much alive with Debra.

He was making his way out of the church just as Aaron finished his 'not-prayer'. Which... just might have been the reason He'd come outside.

He looked up at Aaron, seeing him on the tombstone, and made his way over.

"Hey." he gave a little awkward wave, "Doing okay?"

Aaron smiled when he saw the man come out. "Hey, Chuck. Yeah, I guess I'm alright." He slid from the tombstone. "I guess you heard - Gabriel is gone."

"Yeah, I heard." he agreed, giving him a sympathetic look. He needed to check on Anna as well, but wanted to give her some time before he did.

"He'd been ... killed." Aaron said, not sure if Chuck knew or not. "As I understand it, that means he couldn't go home. I'm hoping ... Debra left at the same time ... maybe they went back to her place."

He nodded, hands shoved in his pockets, "It seems likely. If they left together...."

"Yeah, I hope so." Aaron said again. "How've you been? It's been a while since I've seen you. Are they keeping you busy in the church?"

"Not really." he shrugged, "I'm just not very social." Chuck had spent most of his time locked in his house back home after all. "Spend most of my time with Kerai."

Aaron nodded, smiling. "How is she? And the dog?" He remembered helping train the dog to 'thump' Kerai when it was needed.

"She's doing good." he smiled, "And her little dog too."

"That's good." Aaron said. "No more troubles with her powers, I hope?" Kerai's ability to project emotions or whatever it was that she actually did was potentially devastating, particularly over as small an area as the village.

"No, she's been doing good with it. The dog helps a lot and we've both giving up drinking..."

Which might have been more of a miracle in Chuck's case than hers.

"That can't have been easy - congratulations to you both." Aaron said.

"I've been splitting my time between the candy store and the shelter. I don't know who will take over the candy store now that Gabriel's gone, though."

"Maybe you could take it over?" Chuck suggested, "You know, if you wanted to."

"That's a possibility." Aaron admitted. I do enjoy working at the shelter, though." He smiled. "Good to put my talents to work there, with the animals." Actually being able to understand them was a big help.

He nodded, "Makes sense. You are very good with them. If Kerai's dog is any indication."

"It's very rewarding." Aaron said. "We should be so easy to please. As for the store, I'm sure the village will make a decision if no one steps forward."

He grinned a bit. "It works in mysterious ways, and all that."
