A Matter of Perspective [OTA]

It had been an eventful time for James since he'd arrived in the village. But he was doing his best to accept the place as his at least temporal home. After giving it some thought he'd realized it probably wasn't that different from being on a military base. Only you didn't get a weekend pass here. That realization had helped to calm his initial anger at being stuck. Also, he'd found several places that seemed normal enough. If he stuck to those for now, he'd probably be okay. He'd hang on to what little familiarity he could find in a place that had 'WEIRD' written all over it.

Still, some things he'd never really get to grips with, his encounter with the TARDIS was one of them. He just couldn't get his mind around it so he'd convinced himself over a couple of strong drinks that it had either been an illusion or a hallucination that there was a big room inside a small blue box. After all it might have been caused by his lack of sleep, that could do things to your vision.

The rest, he was starting to cope with, he thought. Especially now that he had a job. It had been surprisingly easy to get it and now he had something to do, to focus on. Something he was familiar with, he loved playing poker. It also meant regular company. James was no good on his own for too long. Yet, today he didn't have to be at work, as the dealer who was tutoring him for now, had his day off. So James was off work, too.

He'd decided a breakfast at Momma Mitchell's Bakery was a good idea, he'd been there before and they served delicious food. James bought a cinnamon roll and a strong coffee and sat down at an empty table near a window. How to spend the day, he wondered, looking out of the window at the people passing by on the street as he took a bite of the roll...
