Finally, something that reminded her of being home again. Joan was actually going somewhere else for lunch when she saw this place and decided to walk in. And it was exactly the way the little place was two blocks down from the office building. A soda for a dime and ice cream for twenty-five cents. That's the way prices should be, she can't believe she pays two dollars for a Coca-cola here.
So, instead of a real meal, she goes for the ice cream; just a small sundae, and puts money into the jukebox. The place is nearly empty as she slides into a booth, humming that catchy Petula Clark song, 'Downtown.'
For a Monday, things were certainly feeling very much like a Friday.
