Jack wasn't sure what to make of that weekend. The change had been strange enough, the place suddenly turning into the wild west in space-- something he had to admit was right up his angle. Then he'd more or less poured his heart out on the table for Charles to see. He was never that open to anyone. It was unsettling really, that he allowed himself to do that. Let someone really know him. He tried so hard to put up walls. Easier that way.
Then those things attacked. So much for peace and quiet. He'd seen npc people torn apart before he could act, those creatures doing unspeakable things... he'd seen worse, but it still affected him. And it made him realize that the problems of Cardiff were just as likely to happen here too. Things attacking, lives threatened, and him trying to save them. In some cases unsuccessfully. Apparently, it wasn't a role he could escape. He wasn't sure part of him wanted to. But the pain that came with it, he could do without that. At least for a little while.
He ordered a coffee from the cafe, not as good as Ianto's, and then walked out to sit by the lake, trying to wrap his head around that weekend. And of himself.
[ooc: SLOWTIME WARNING!! Just an FYI that with my internets out, I'll still be tagging when I go someplace else with internet or by phone, but I'll be a lot slower, so bare with me. :) ]
