Not Quite the Afterlife (OTA)

It had taken everything she had to hold Arthur for those few moments but she did not care. All that mattered was that she had the chance to have a few precious moments with the son she had waited years for. She had realised pretty quickly that the life to be taken in exchange for his would be hers and she found herself not caring. Then again, what type of person would she be if she had hated it?

In the end she only managed to hold him for about a minute before having to pass him to the waiting wet nurse and her eyes closed. However what she had imagined could possibly have happened had not and she slowly opened her eyes. But she didn't recognise anything around her. Her white nightdress was the only familiar thing and she wrapped her arms around herself as she looked around. Was this what death was like?
