Faith wasn't sure what woke her, other than that she was suddenly awake in a panic. Blinking, she looked around her bedroom. Then she heard a bang.
From Ed's bedroom.
She was on her feet in a flash, bolting to his room. Pushing the door open she was met with an empty crib. And a man looking around in confusion. Scratch that, a teenager.
"Where's Ed?" Faith scowled, practically growling at him.
His head spun to face her, some sarcastic comment ready, but they died on his lips when he saw her. She looked younger, and was in nothing but a pair of boxers and a t-shirt, but there was no mistaking her, "Mom?"
"What?" that caused her to freeze, but bristle again in anger, "I'm not your mom. Where's Ed!?"
That caused him to scoff, gesturing to himself, "I'm Ed, mom! Calm down...shit."
"You..." she shook her head, looking from him to the crib, he looked sort of like Ed-- maybe. He had the same darker skin tone that reminded her so much of Cole, her eyes, that dark head of hair, "That's not possible."
As soon as the words left her lips, she knew it was entirely possible. This was something the village would definitely do, just to mess with her head.
Ed let out a frustrated sigh, "I don't know how. I just know that I am." he looked at the crib, "Is that..." This was seriously freaking him out, "mine?'
Faith couldn't do anything but nod. This was insane. Crazy. "You're only nine months... or, well, you were."
"Wow." he ran a hand through his hair, "Where dad?"
She just stared, "Dad?" Cole was gone, what was he talking about? Had he come back?
"Dad." he repeated with a slow nod as though his mother was slow, "Dean?"
Her breath caught in her throat and she took a step back. Dean? She was still with him? Her relationship with him actually worked? They actually got to stay together outside the village? She had so many questions, it was overwhelming. So overwhelming she had to take a seat at the rocking chair next to the crib. It was only then she realized that Ed was still waiting for an answer. She nodded, "He's here. In the village."
"Oh-- my god, this is Haurvatat, isn't it?" he whistled, walking to the window, just to see.
She nodded again, "It is. So we... get out? Together?"
"With Dean, yeah." he took a tentative step toward his mother, "All of us. Together. You, me, Dean... Robbie."
"Robbie?" she echoed with a frown, curious, "Who's that?"
"My brother." Ed explained, worried about him that he wasn't here too, "You had him with Da--Dean. He's a couple years younger than me."
Faith was stunned, holding her head in her hands, taking a deep breath. This was overwhelming. She had to message Dean. Which she did pulling out her messenger.
"Want to go eat breakfast? Talk?" she offered, looking up at him.
Ed grinned, "Sure. So long as I can get some pie."
Apparently Dean had rubbed off on the kid.
