leaving the hotel [[ota]]

Since the...event with the cylons and her clinic stay, Laura hasn't been able to find a solid reason why she should leave the hotel and deal with much of anything. If that makes her a homebody or a coward, she's lived with it. Spending the extra time with Laila and Joslire has been good, like a healing balm over an open wound. And truth be told, ( Read more... )

As promised, Peeta was there, at his station, having completed the cheesebuns for the day. Now it was frosting. He worked, waiting on customers in between the mixing of colors. Every few minutes he poked his head around to check on her, just noting he was there with a smile. And a cookie decorated to look like a daisy.

reply not necessary! Just making his presence known :)

Katniss walked into the bakery after she'd taken care of Rory, dressed in her hunting clothes, ready to head to the woods after the promised visit to Laura.

She went to see Peeta first, then he pointed to where Laura was and after she'd let go of his flour-dusted hands, she headed to the back, softly saying, "hi."

Laura looks up, and as soon as she sees Katniss, she smiles, eyes lighting up. She gets up from where she's been writing and rewriting a recipe for a new type of pie, moving in to hug her. "Well, if this isn't the entire reason I've come back to work," she says with a fondness to her voice.

Katniss looked down, peering up at Laura, trying to stifle a smile or the heat to her cheeks. She shrugged slowly, unsure how to feel about what she just said. "It's good to see you." Up and about, was what she meant.

"Well. I think it's good to be back. I think I'll know for sure at the end of the day," Laura smiles, sitting again and gesturing for Katniss to sit if she'd like.

"I spoke to Peeta yesterday," she says with a smile. "I'm so happy for you both."

Jacob watched Laura not saying anything for a while before he can't help himself. "Feeling alright?"

Laura looks up from what she's writing and smiles wanly. "I'm fine. A little...tired, because I've let myself sleep in with the baby rather than get up at four, the past few weeks. But I'll be back at it at the regular time soon, I'm sure."

He nodded,"I can see why you'd give in to the temptation. Spending time with the little one is a lot more fun than dragging into work."

"Oh, the work never bothers me. I just haven't been all that personable," she smirks. "That's what I was avoiding."

Elizabeth had stepped into the bakery, after Sonya had shown her the place it was quickly becoming one of her favourites in the village. Her sweet tooth and love of pastry was something that was happy sated there. As good as anything that came from her kitchens.

Though at the moment the front counter was unoccupied. She waited a moment, then called out. "Ah, sir, madam... is there anyone about?"

She's surprised when someone calls out, wondering where her staff could have gone. She was laying low and hadn't thought she'd be dealing with many people face to face.

"Yes, can I help you?" Laura asks when she comes out, wiping her hand son her apron, looking for Peeta and finding him occupied with a customer at a table.

The woman seemed... distracted. But Elizabeth filed that away for the time being.

"Sorry to bother you, madam, you seem to be otherwise occupied."

Then she pointed to one of the strawberry pastries. "One of those, thank-you." She'd gotten very addicted to them in particular. "I really must commend this place, you have such delightful foods, so very different to what I have at home. I've never seen chefs do such thing with pastries."

There's a pencil in her hair, flour on her elbow, and she's wearing her glasses, but Laura does smile.

"Thank you, I appreciate that. We start at four in the morning and make everything fresh." She never serves anything day old, those go to the police station, the school, and the clinic.

She looks at the woman. "Is this for here, or to go?"
