Tied to a chair, [and] the bomb is ticking (open - tag police types, and Lucy)

The problem, if you asked Matt, about working for the police (aside from the sludge they called coffee) was that you often found yourself surrounded by cops. Sitting at his desk as he was at the moment, he was experiencing this phenomena.

He'd been a good guy for a while, but he was never going to not be twitchy when surrounded by armed people who probably wouldn't look kindly on him downloading music or old TV shows from what the village allowed him to access via the net.

But really those old Starsky and Hutch episodes were teaching him all about being a cop and if they would release them on DVD he'd totally buy them

Maybe.

Okay probably not, internet piracy was his last vice - that and RedBull. The one person in the station who drank more RedBull than him was Wolfman. Not that Matt called him that to his face.

The second problem, and this was less generalized to cops and more about McClane, the father of the girl he was dating was his boss - and had access to an armory.

He really didn't want to get shot... again.

Of course, having not asked Lucy on another date since the Christmas ball (he'd seen her, just not in a date like capacity unless fixing her computer counted) was probably a good way to not be dating your bosses daughter.

Or knowing Lucy - another good way to get shot.

"I'm screwed." he muttered.
