Laura has been looking for a particular type of flower for a display at the bakery. The problem is, a true hibiscus doesn't bloom for very long. So, she's looking for anything that has the same cheerful blooms, the same colorful pattern. Some of these flowers John had never seen before, and he couldn't help thinking that his dad would love some of them, would love to grow them on the farm.

He walks round the corner without looking where he is going - he's too used to the sound of metal under his feet, rather than anything else - and almost walks into the woman standing there. "Oh, I'm sorry, ma'am," he said, his charm coming out in the smile he gave her. "Didn't see you there."

Laura stops short and smiles, instinctively reaches to pull Laila closer, then remembers she isn't there. Smiling at him, she shakes her head. "It's fine, don't worry, it's a small space."

She puts down the seed packages she'd been holding. "Are you looking for anything in particular?" She didn't work in the flower shop by any means, but she could help.

"No, I was just looking, thinking how much my Dad would love this," John said with a smile. "That and it's been a while since I've seen fresh flowers."

"Same here. And I keep thinking it would be nice to plant some things of my own, but I never get around to it."

She looks at him, extending her hand. "I'm Laura, by the way. I don't think that I've seen you around before."

After work in a different shop was a funny place to meet his boss, but actually, it was pretty convenient all told. Peeta let the door close behind him and stood in the shop for a minute - he'd been going to see if he could get a primrose bush - when he saw Laura. But there was something that he could really use the advice of an adult for and he trusted Laura most of all, so ...

"Hey," he said as he walked up. "Hi."

Laura looks up, pleasantly surprised to see him, smiling. "Peeta. Flower shopping for Katniss?" She stands beside him, leaning to pick up a package of cucumber sides.

"Yeah, actually. I was looking for a rosebush. But ... I don't know if this time of year is the best time for that or not," he admitted with a smile and a ducked head. "... you?"

"Well, roses are in bloom in the summer, but lucky for us, florists tend to have them growing all the time," she smiles.

"I...am looking for something for the bakery. We have that entire empty space on one of the counters, and we don't need another display. So I thought something nice and colorful could go there. But I'm not finding exactly what I want," she admits.
