John snorts out a chuckle of rueful recognition. He should have expected this, Holly went through it too, and had decided to paint and re-carpet several rooms to boot. It looks like it's going to be room service or pizza for dinner.

"Hey, Honey." He kisses her. "Want me to finish lining those shelves for you?"

Erica kisses him distractedly, and actually considers his offer, torn between wanting to see it done and doing it herself.

"...Okay," she finally says. "But make sure you pre-cut. And no air bubbles."

"Got it." He goes into the bedroom to take of his jacket and gun and lock them away, and comes back with a straight edge. It's like being a hostage negotiator, really, humor the crazy person, and follow their instructions exactly. He makes sure to be surgical in his measuring and cutting, and smooths the paper down with the straight edge to make it as bubble free as humanly possible.

"So how was your day, Honey?"

"It was good, I cleaned out our closet, cleaned the bathroom. Cleaned Angel's room and honestly, I don't understand how she got so many toys. So I boxed some to give to Laura for Laila and the new rule is if you or I step on anything she leaves out in the middle of the floor we're giving it to Laila or Hot Lips and her kids."

Erica pauses to look at him, to monitor, even though she tries to pretend that isn't what she's doing.
