A Visit to the Church (Closed to Leoben and Backdated to Monday)

Dec 21, 2011 15:23

Six was struggling somewhat with the way she had been greeted by Laura at the Ball. She seemed to greet Six in a friendly manner even though the Laura had no reason to be friendly to her at all. It wouldn't be the first time a colonial had pretended to be nice to a cylon only to stab them in the back, so Six was glad she had pretended to be a look- ( Read more... )

Leoben had spotted Six as was walking into the church. He couldn't be sure still that it was one of his sisters and not a doppelganger, but the fact the she was going to church made it seem more likely that it was. He was sitting in a pew, casually skimming a Bible, as he waited for her to get out of the confessional.

He wanted to know what she was up to. Why she had talked to Kyla. It was a strange feeling. He was happy to have one of his family here, but at the same time, he was worried.

Six spent about fix minutes in the confessional and then exited quietly. As she looked out at the rest of the church, she spotted Leoben sitting in a pew. His presence there could not have been coincidence. She felt a moments hesitation. Leoben was, as far as she could tell, the only other cylon here. He was family. But he had clearly sided with the humans and Six felt as if that was a betrayal.

She pushed aside her doubts and walked over. Six sat down next to Leoben and casually crossed her legs. 'Julie' preferred to wear black trousers and fitted sweaters.

Leoben didn't even look up as she sat, still reading from the Bible, "Sister."

Leoben's response drew a smile. "Leoben. It's good to see you."

Six turned her head and looked at him even if he didn't look up. "You look well."

He set down the book, putting it back in the pew in front of him, "And you... I saw you at the ball."

Leoben looked over at her, trying to read her and figure out just what she was up to.

Leoben always had that look like he could see right through you. It was something his model was good at and something hers often lacked. Hers was good at hiding the truth.

"I enjoyed myself. I like dancing." Six met his gaze easily. "I met your date. I think you might have a type, Leoben."

It certainly hadn't escaped his notice just how similar Kyla was to Kara in more than just her name. He didn't let the comment upset him, but then he seldom got upset by most things, "So I do."

"How long have you been here, Six? Did you just arrive?"

She had often wondered what would get a rise out of Leoben. One day she might discover it, but for now she was simply happy to be around him. Six had plans, but that didn't mean she couldn't take a moment or two to be thankful her brother was here.

"About a week and a half ago. I've been catching up on everything. The Welcome Center here is really useful. From what I gather, most people here are from Earth."

If she had plans which might involve Kyla, she might discover it soon enough.

He smiled and nodded happily at the mention of Earth, "They are, yes. May I ask... when are you from?"

Because that was very important to know.

Six considered lying to him, but the way he responded to the mention of Earth stopped her from doing so. He was far too familiar with it and maintaining a believable lie would be hard.

"The Resurrection ship was destroyed. Some of the colonials came aboard the baseship. Kara was there." Six glanced to Leoben, but continued. "Natalie just killed me before I arrived here."

She felt strange for saying it aloud and wondered if Leoben would even know what she was talking about.

"Because you killed Barolay, yes, I remember..." so she wasn't from the same point as him. And she was angry. This was all not leading in a positive direction, "I'm from after that."

Six had to force herself not to state that Barolay had killed her first. She tensed, but then Six forced herself to relax again.

"From Earth." Six could now properly process what Laura had said to her at the ball. "Laura mentioned she got to Earth and it looks like you did too."

"In a manner of speaking." It hadn't been the Earth. That one was dead and gone, but a new one that they'd simply decided to call Earth.

Six turned her head to look at him. "What manner of speaking is that?"

"It was Earth, because that's what we called it." he said with a shrug, "We made it to the real one, but..." Leoben just shook his head, "There was a war. Nothing left."

Six listened and found she wasn't surprised at the fact that war had touched Earth.

"War seems to follow us around." It had only truly become real on New Caprica. Before then, the war was done with a distance.
