Declan was pretty much on his own in the Sanctuary. Helen had been occupied since James had arrived in the village, Tesla was god knows where, Will had been about, but since it was quiet, it seemed an ideal time to give Donna that tour he promised. He was painfully aware that this wasn't his Sanctuary, and although he knew that Helen most likely wouldn't mind, it just made more sense to him to do this while things were quiet.

He'd prepared most of the food for the residents beforehand, and was sitting by the front door to wait for Donna. He really did think that she would be a fantastic asset if she wanted a job when she was finished travelling.
