He's perched in the crotch of a tree, clad in his shirt sleeves, watching for her, a small book in hand. As she approaches, he tucks the book into the neck of his black waistcoat and clambers down to the grass.

"You came, milady Fantine," he says, offering his hand to her.

Fantine's face brightens into a sincere smile when she sees him, and she gently puts her delicate hand in his.

"Oh, I wouldn't have missed it for the world! I am glad that we will have some time just the two of us, and I have been very much looking forward to your reading."

She smiled, meeting his eyes for a moment, very open and tender.

"Shall we find a place to sit? I have a blanket and a picnic."

Fantine blushed a bit, and let him take the basket. He was such a gentleman, and so kind, too!

She led them to a quiet little copse of trees, and sat on the grass, taking the picnic basket again, and spreading them out a nice little snack.

"What are you going to read to me?" she smiled, looking up at him expectantly.
