Strange.
She loved the smell of them. It reminded her of when she was a little girl and her mother had made them for her. Her mother...she could hardly remember her face anymore, she had been so young when her mother had died. And now it would be the same for her own Cosette...
Sounds in the apartment made her sit up in bed suddenly.
Someone was in her apartment making crepes.
Surely a robber wouldn't do that?
She got up, threw a wrap around herself, and tiptoed carefully to the door, opening it slowly...only to see that her entire apartment had changed.
She swallowed, a bit fearful.
"H-hello?"

"Hello! Apparently the hotel saw fit to make us roommates; this apartment didn't use to have two bedrooms." Her French accent in English was obvious, but she'd not been sure of Fantine's accent from just 'hello', and so had not switched to their native tongue.
"Crêpe?"
Reply
"Yes, thank you, they smell delicious."
Then, quickly recognizing her accent she added:
"You are French too?"
