What Magic is This? [Arrival, Open]

Despite everything, it was good to be home.

The rolling grasslands passed by beneath the hooves of her horse's feet, the ground a riot of color with the small flowers that bloomed at this time of year. Behind her was the encampment of Liha'irden, and ahead - Tarma smiled to herself. Ahead was her own clan's summer pasture. She wanted Kethry to see Tale'sedrin land, to see where it was that she had pledged herself to, and Kethry rode beside her now, almost as eager as Tarma herself to look upon it.

Tarma shut her eyes, just for a moment, and in that instant the world changed.

'Keth?' she called out in alarm, twisting round and looking behind her. 'Kethry! She'enedra!' There was no sign of her oath-sister, and Tarma guessed in that instant that Kethry was still back on the Dhorisha Plains. She, however, was not.

Magic? Not Kethry's, not without warning, and there were no mages among the Shin'a'in. The thought chilled Tarma to the bone. Where was this place, and who had sent her? She fought the rising panic - you're Kal'enedral, act it - and surveyed her surroundings. There was a settlement in the distance there. It was not Kata'shin'a'in, the trade city of her people, but neither did it resemble any outClan town she had ever visited.

'Easy, Kessira,' she told her horse, who was as surprised as her rider, and then she urged her forward, towards the paved streets of the strange settlement ahead. If there were answers, they would be found there.
