Just when you thought you were safe...(Tag Draco)

Kurt was behaving. The red sky did look rather ominous, after all, and Draco had said to stay in the hotel, so he was totally staying in the hotel. Strange things happened in the village sometimes, after all, and so far he'd managed to stay out of trouble by doing exactly what he was doing now. He locked his hotel door and stayed away from the windows.

Other than that--he pretty much went about his routine as normal. Breakfast, shower...and, well, okay, then. That's the point in his routine where he usually went to work, and today he didn't have work, so he ended up flopped on the sofa with a notebook, sketching out the flyer and signups and ideas for the music festival.

There was a noise that caught his attention an hour or so later. It seemed to be coming from the vent. He paused in his note scribbling, and it stopped. After listening for a few minutes and not hearing anything, Kurt shrugged and went back to what he'd been doing. A while later, another noise. This time it was a bit louder, but just like before, it stopped.

"Probably something up with the A.C.," Kurt muttered.

By lunch time he'd heard the noise twice more, but both times it had stopped as soon as he'd noticed it. He was starting to think it was a little creepy, admittedly, but he was in the hotel. Nothing had ever happened in the hotel, and his sense of safety wrapped around him there.

Then the noises got louder, like something scratching at the vent. Kurt debated going to investigate, but it was always the person who went to investigate who ended up dead in the movies and he told himself he wasn't going to be that person, except...there wasn't anyone else here, and he was in a hotel in real life, not a movie, so how bad could it be? There were zombies at Halloween, a little voice reminded him. And there's a vampire bar in town, another added. And your boss and best friend here is Draco Malfoy. That was sort of the cincher.

Right, so the "real life" wasn't exactly going to keep him safe now, which meant he probably should stay away from the vent. That would have been great if the cover hadn't flown off and a thing out of a nightmare--more grotesque than any zombie he could have imagined--hadn't sprung out and started straight for him.

Kurt screamed. He didn't much care that it was as high pitched as a girl's. The pot of water he'd been boiling water in was the only weapon he had, but he hurled it as hard as he could at the thing's head as he scrambled away and reached in his pocket to send a frantic message to Draco.

This definitely counted as an emergency.
