Just....strange. - OTA

Even after relaxing for most of the day in front of the television, Draco still had to limp his way to the cafe for his supper. Sure, he could have eaten at the hotel, but the weather was nice and one could only stay inside during the summer for so long. After ordering a sandwich and tea, Draco sat - gingerly -at one of the outdoor tables.

He sipped ( Read more... )

Light was not affected by whatever was happening, which was a good thing considering he was already short-tempered enough. He was at the cafe again, hoping to find someone, anyone, that Draco would find worthy. This wasn't what he'd expected at all- then again, to him there were plenty of people he'd chose to try it on.

Either way, he spotted Draco, going to sit across from him. "Hello, Dr- wow, you look terrible." Of course, he sounded more curious than concerned, but still.

Draco glared at him. How rude!

"Your opinion has been noted," he said, and sipped his tea noisily.

"Sorry, it's just... well, you looked a lot better last time I saw you. What happened?" That was as close to a compliment as Light would give someone, so really he shouldn't be too irritated.

"I'm going to order coffee, do you need anything?"

"I have all I need," Draco said, waving away the offer. "It was a difficult night at The Sin, is all."

Ruby had run out to the cafe to pick up sandwiches for herself, Robin and Lek. With all the wedding plans coming to a head, there just wasn't time for cooking.

She saw Draco sitting at a table, and sat across from him as soon as she saw the pink, raw-looking marks on his neck. The finger marks might have been gone, but she wasn't stupid.

"Did you tell Robin?"

He thought about pretending not to know what she was talking about, but there was no reason to lie. The evidence was there.

"No, I haven't yet," he said, and dropped a sugar cub into his tea. "You're both under enough stress with the wedding. I took care of it, besides. The bastard knows me well enough to know my threats have more bite than I let on."

"The wedding doesn't come before the well-being of our friends, Draco. I'm not that much of a bridezilla."

She sat back in the chair, worrying her bottom lip as she looked at him with concern.

"I can't believe anyone would dare, especially with you."

"I was," Draco said with a smirk, and then stirred his tea. "I agree. He should have known better. I have a strange feeling though...the two before him were acting oddly as well. I can hardly sit without casting a cushioning charm first."

"You're hurt." It wasn't a question, and the goddess didn't even need her powers to be able to tell it as she came up behind him. Bast ran two fingers over the marks on his neck, soothing any pain for the time being, and then took a chair across from him, wanting the whole story. She had already drawn a face from his mind, and her usually less-than-human fingernails were becoming true claws.

Draco grinned a little. "I have such caring friends."

It was nice to know there were people willing to disembowel someone for him. If the positions were reversed, he would do the same.

"At the Sin?" she asked, the picture in her head becoming a little clearer, her claws a little sharper. He really need only ask and the man whose face she saw in her mind would be put at his mercy.

"At The Sin," he confirmed with a sigh. "I think something is going on. I've never had an incident like that. And the others were acting strange as well."

Ramona was on a coffee run when she spotted Draco--which seemed to happen a lot, come to think of it. "Dude, that looks like it hurt. What the hell happened?"

"Just some trouble at work," he answered with a shrug. "I'm all right."

"Don't guess you can magic those things away, can you?" she asked, sitting down across from him. She'd sported a few marks like that herself, after her encounter with the fear demon.

"I have salves and things to help," he said with a shrug. "These are just a bit stubborn."

There wasn't much that could fix his problems. Draco did the best he could, and sometimes that was even enough.

"Not physically." There was that cynicism popping up.
