Ruby was being tailed by a stray cat. This cat was not the goddess, but as a cat he'd heeded his Lady's request, and she would be able to hear through his ears and see through his eyes if she needed to.

Ruby noticed the cat and smiled slightly. It was good to know that Bast was helping them.

She knelt down and held out her hand to it, letting it decide if it wanted her to pet it.

He wasn't sure about that. He was a stray, after all. But his Lady insisted he show the woman affection, so he hesitantly sniffed the demon-woman's hand, and then let her pet him.

He huffed at her a little uncertainly. He was supposed to follow, not lead. Supposed to keep an eye on her, so she didn't get lost, too.
