in which velma explores [[ota]]

Well isn't this place quaint? Only appearances can be deceiving and Velma knows a thing or two about that. So far she's counted a whore house and a burlesque club that ain't servin' up choir girls. She wonders what else there is but keeps that place, The Sin, in the back of her mind. She could use a few extra bucks on the side, not that Draco wasn' ( Read more... )

Ruby was inside The Inferno doing some paperwork when she noticed a rather striking and lovely lady outside The Sin. Someone she certainly wouldn't be against seeing on her stage, and someone she was quite sure she had never seen before.

Pushing the paperwork aside, she stood and went outside, offering her a smile.

"Hello, there."

Velma's distrusting by nature, and she looks at Ruby with a little nod as she lights a cigarette. "Hey yourself. You work in there?" she asks, nodding toward the building.

"At The Sin? No, I don't. I'm Ruby, I run the strip club next door."

She smiled at her, stepping out of the way of the smoke.

"New here? Need a job?"

"Yeah and no. I got that part under control."

A woman runs a strip club and all that says to Velma is that this village really isn't anywhere close to home.

"Takin' off my clothes in front of a crowd isn't really my thing."

My work day is over and I am simply walking through the streets, feeling the change of seasons coming as I have every year practically since I became a ranger. For one brief moment I think the woman ahead is Tabitha. She has something about her... but it is not. I'm not sure if I am disappointed, as perhaps I shall see Meg again and she is far less complicated.

"Good day, my lady," I greet her with a polite nod. Is her clothing different from most? She truly does have a different air from most here.

He is wearing modern clothes, except for the Elven cloak/brooch and has a knife in his right boot.

She's not used to people just talking to her on the street, and Velma awkwardly stops, not sure if she's supposed to keep a conversation going or not. This place is a far cry from the Chicago streets.

Somewhere, she pulls up the rules on being polite.

"Afternoon," she says, waiting for whatever else he wants to say.

I hadn't really expected her to stop, at least not like that. Some will, as I usually do. She is obviously not used to being so addressed and I worry that I have made her uncomfortable. I cannot even blame that on being here, as I've always done it. Everyone in Gondor knows me, or at least everyone in Minas Tirith, so my stopping to talk is not at all unusual.

"Pardon me, I did not mean to alarm you." At least I can keep from blushing though I am terribly embarrassed. "Even before coming to the village it was habit to speak to people."

She might have a familiar air, but not a known face.

"Are you new to this place? My name is Faramir and I apologise again for disturbing you."

"When someone stops me on the street it's because they want something," she says, being completely honest with him.

At his question she nods. "Just got here a week ago. I'm Velma, and it's no bother. I'm just not used to everyone being so friendly is all."
