Valentine's (closed to Olivia, Backdated to Feb 15th)

Feb 17, 2011 22:10

Peter wasn't sure of he would find Olivia in her room or not, but he decided to take the chance. He had been rather recluse lately and ignoring everyone, which wasn't fair to her especially. It wasn't her fault that Walter lied to him. In fact, he should be grateful she was willing to tell him the truth. He just had to get over it ( Read more... )

Olivia had been engrossed in a book when the knock on the door brought her back out into the real world. Her brow knit, wondering who it could be but when she looked through the peep hole, she smiled and opened the door.

"Peter, hi. Come in." Olivia stepped back to let him enter if he wanted, assuming that he was on his way somewhere else.

He smiled in way of greeting as he stepped in. When he entered, he produced the bouquet from behind his back and held it up a little to Olivia.

"I know I'm a day late, but these are for you."

To say that Olivia was surprised was an understatement but it was a pleasant surprise. She took the lilies with a smile, "they're beautiful, thank you. Would you like something to drink?"

Olivia went into the small kitchen area to pull out a glass pitcher that would work as a vase and began to fill it with water.

His hands slid into his pockets as he followed Olivia into the kitchen. "Sure." His smile remained. "I was hoping you'd let me take you up on that dinner."

"You know you don't have to." She set the flowers on the counter top. "It was perfectly understandable that you needed time and space and you didn't act like an ass." Olivia smiled, "not that I'd turn down a meal, I would love to go, just that you don't have to."

"Well, I might not have to, but I want to." He felt back for being a recluse, but he also just thought Olivia deserved a night out too.

"And you can pick where you'd like to go."

"How about a surprise?" Olivia smiled, "for you and me. The restaurant that changes. Let's see what it will be." Olivia had yet to figure out how it did it. She supposed it was like the village or the Holodeck technology in Ten Forward. Maybe something with perception.

A smile broke out at her suggestion. It was the best option really. "Sounds like fun." He made a face expression accompanied with a slight nod to the door that asked 'shall we?' Though if Olivia wanted to change first, he'd understand.

"I heard one time it served food only from Vulcan."

Her only concession was to take the pony tail holder out of her hair and let her blond locks swing free around her shoulders. "Vulcan? As in Star Trek Vulcan?" Olivia asked when she walked toward her door. "At least it wasn't Klingon food."

He chuckled as he held her door open for Olivia. "True. I'm not sure I'd be a big fan of my food moving on the plate."

“Or blood dripping down from it.” She made a mock shudder as she stepped out into the hall. “I can live with medium rare and even more rare than medium but given what we’ve seen, I’m not sure I could eat it.”

Peter had to agree.

"You know what I could really miss, actually?" He looked at her as he pressed stopped at the elevator and pressed the button. "That really bad Chinese food place Broyles always calls in when we're pulling an all-nighter."

That made Olivia laugh. “Oh come on, Peter. You can’t tell me that you wouldn’t miss the very wet rice.” When the elevator arrived she stepped into it and looked over at him out of the corner of her eyes. “The way it sticks to the roof of your mouth like peanut butter and when you swallow it sort of stays at the bottom of your throat.”

"You know, -" He was about to mentioned how Walter had taken some of the rice back to the lab, but stopped. Walter felt an empty feeling in his chest right now

"I'm pretty sure that food could be considered a fringe event in and of itself."

He glanced at her with a small smile as the elevator reached the lobby and opened its doors.

"Now that's not something I really want to contemplate." Olivia laughed as they walked across the lobby and toward the exit. "There might be some truth into that theory. Sometimes it's better not to think about it."

"I've eaten worse." He held the door open for Olivia as they reached the hotel doors. Some of the places Peter has traveled did not posses five-star restaurants.

"Besides. Something tells me you'd enjoy a little fringe event or two right about now."
