Sam stood quietly inside the bowling alley, glancing around in quiet assessment as he held a set of keys in his hand.  When he had woken up that morning, he had found the keys waiting for him on his bedside stand.  A quick glance at the key chain told him to check out the bowling alley and the note that had been with the keys confirmed that he was ( Read more... )

Spike was not a bowling alley guy. Would never be a bowling alley guy, that was Angel, but the woman that he'd picked out that would be a lovely gift for Dru had walked into the building. Which meant that Spike followed her.

The problem was that once inside, the bint had headed over to a group of friends. Normally not a problem, Spike would have still stalked her but her friends all had crosses and wore habits. A nun league? Now he'd have to wait until the bint left.

This meant he was presented with two things. Leave and wait outside or stick around and see if there would be another good target. Yeah, Spike chose the second one. So he settled on a plastic chair and pulled out a cigarette from his leather jacket and lit up.

Sam watched the blonde man with casual interest from where he leaned against the counter, sipping his coffee. There was something about him that made Sam look and then glance over to the group of people that he had been watching.

Maybe it was best to keep an eye on the whole thing.

Straightening, he looked at the man again. "Can I help you with something?"

"No, mate I'm good." He said with a puff of smoke toward the ceiling then turned his head to look at Sam. "Yeah, maybe you can."

Spike motioned toward the nuns bowling, "get a lot of leagues? Dru and me, we like to socialize some, thought I'd check it out." If he had a schedule of when leagues were and when the nuns bowled he could avoid them. Unlike Angelus, nuns weren't his thing.

"Uh, I think we do." Sam looked around for some kind of information that could help him. "I actually just took over today, so I'm still figuring a few things out." He flashed a small smile, glancing towards the nuns before looking around again.

"Here we are." He finally found a schedule. "Looks like tonight is their only night right now."

He smiled inwardly at that but didn't allow the other bloke to see it. He now knew when to avoid the nuns and more importantly when the other bint would be coming and going.

"Brilliant. Cheers." Spike took another drag on his cigarette. "So the village give you this place or did you look for it?"

"I guess the village gave it to me." Which was an odd thought and that much was apparent.

"I just got here." He smiled, shrugging a bit. "Does the village usually give jobs or businesses to people?"

"Yeah. Me and Dru got the theater that way." Spike finished off his cigarette and tossed it to the floor under his boot heel. He scowled slightly, "don't like thinkin' about someone pullin' my chain but Dru likes it."

Plus there was the bonus that they could take people there and no one would hear them. Lovely soundproofing, had to thank the village for that bit.

"Yeah, can't say that I'm a big fan of it either." Sam admitted, glancing down as the man tossed his smoke down to crush it out. "But it seems the village likes to make a lot of decisions for the people here."

"Tell me about it, mate." Spike's scowl deepened. Stupid village didn't let him and Dru drink from live humans. It did let them go out in the sun though.

"Reason we're all here, if you ask me. Powers yankin' you around, pullin' you in, enjoyin' watchin' us like rats."

Which Spike could appreciate if the bloody village let him and Dru have some fun.

"It definitely feels like that, doesn't it?" Sam agreed with feeling somewhat like a rat that someone was playing with.

"Seems like there is more to it than just a sentient village having it's own fun or wanting us to learn a lesson." He still swore that Gabriel had something to do with it but the angel denied any involvement. Of course, he was known for lying.

“Lesson.” Spike scoffed. “Like I need to learn a lesson by a bloody village.” Or whoever was behind it. “Think it’s the Powers That Be. They’re good for yankin’ ya about.” Or so Angel kept yapping about.
