Traditionally, good habits to observe during a snow storm included staying indoors, keeping out of the wind and extreme cold. Or if you had to venture outside, to keep it brief and dress in layers, protecting the mouth, fingers and nose from frostbite.
But instead of these logical things, like enjoying hot chocolate, snuggling under blankets and watching a movie together like a proper family, the Bats and Birds jumped right into the snowdrifts and began constructing holes, trenches and other single-space strongholds of ice and snow in the frozen garden in front of the hotel.
Jason had been watching for forty-three minutes now, enduring the sharp wind as his brothers pelted one another with snow-balls, destroying and fortifying their individual fortresses as they played war on one another.
