Double-digit birthday (Closed to Max G)

I did not deliberately miss Max's birthday, it just sort of happened. I know she had dinner with Chris and his family later this week and I'm sure the young man remembered. How could he forget, when the two of them chose their birthdays around the same time ( Read more... )

"Hello, Max," I greet when she opens the door. "Happy birthday--may I come in?"

The present is wrapped in green with a white ribbon. It's paper I had to wrap gifts for the Christmas holidays, but is not overt. Besides, I like green.

"Would you like to open this now? I can bring it with us, if you like." I'm not sure she would want the extra attention.

"You look comfortable." Good.

Box is what I'd consider medium-sized and rectangle. People familiar with gifts would know that it likely contains clothing.

"I would." The gift is strange, but not, not when she explains what it means.

"That is a very fine gift. Mine is bought, though I saw it and thought of you." I did not go looking for a gift, it found me. Had it not, I would have looked. "Perhaps it is not so fine next to Chris', but for all their buying of gifts, people seem to say it is the thought that is most important."

Though some do not act like it.

"I thought you might like this."

The style of the coat is vaguely military, only for those in the navy. The call it a 'pea coat' and it reminds me of a gift given me, only not the same colour.*

It is the 'pink bloom'. The children's style was not exactly the same, and this is almost exactly what I was thinking of.
*I oopsed. I thought it was a pea coat he was gifted several years back at Christmas. Still, appropriate.
