Star Stuff[OTA]

Marcus stood in the park his face turned up toward the stars. After the events that had gone down he needed to find some kind of peace. He hadn't gotten involved in the fight though a large part of him had wanted to rush into the situation blindly. He sighed a bit it was hard fighting his instincts but now that he was dead running into a situation ( Read more... )

Ah, the joys of teaching. To know that you are feeding the minds of your students with knowledge was one gratifying feeling indeed. But when one has come to the discovery that one has left a very important stack of exams she had promised to grade and returned the next day, that feeling of gratification often gave way to one of sheer panic, as Lynn found out after making such a discovery.

With her mind so occupied these last few days, her attention had been spread thin, which was how she found herself on this night, dashing out of her room, and subsequently out of the hotel, in her pajamas and a light jacket, making a mad dash to the school in the off-chance that it might be unlocked (oh the things one hopes for in dire times ( ... )

"Something on your mind?" Marcus had been a little surprised that anyone else was out but was concerned that she seemed upset by something. He stayed where he was not wanting to sneak up on her.

"Hmm?" The voice startled her, to be honest, for in her frenzied panic, she had not noticed that anyone else was there in the park. Glancing over to where the voice was coming from, she spotted a dark-haired man.

"I just forgot something," she said quietly, managing a tiny smile in spite of the frustration she felt over how the situation had panned out for her. "It's alright. It won't be the end of the world." She paused, feeling like she had inadvertently intruded on him. "Did I bother you just now?"

"A bit but it's better that I stop dwelling on things I cannot change. This place seems to have a way of making you think about things even when you don't want to,"he gave her a small smile that didn't quite reach his eyes.

Not many people were often in the park at night, and so Arwen didn't hold in the song in her heart, as she walked. She sang a lay to Elbereth, most beloved of the Valar, the Queen of Stars. Her voice was not loud, but it did carry on the wind, though her footsteps were silent. It would perhaps have been eerie to anyone not accustomed to the ways of elves, but then - the song was full of awe, not fear, and though few would understand the words, it was hard to mistake the tone.

Marcus turned but kept silent just listening to the singing he could hear. He smiled faintly liking the sound of the female voice. He shifted a bit moving into the moonlight where he could be seen.

As she approached where he lay, she became aware of his presence, and her voice faded at the end of a chorus.

"Good Evening." she said, smiling at him.

"Hello there,"he smiled back at her,"That was a beautiful song." Marcus had really enjoyed it though he'd never been very big on music before.

It has happened again. I suppose Max would have found that the village was not entirely safe in time, though I wonder that it had to be so soon. For myself, it takes me back and makes a walk in the night into a thing of comfort.

"Apparently I am not the only one who felt like being out tonight." I do not know the man, nor recognise the odd clothing. Still I sense nothing hostile, though I do not approach too close--at least not until invited. "I will go elsewhere if you prefer it. You were here first."

"No, I think tonight has brought many people out,"Marcus turned to get a good look at the man. He gave him a little nod,"I don't mind the company. There's more than enough space for the two of us."

"There is, but I would not disrupt your solitude if that is what you wished for when you came out." I do step a little bit closer.

"I am called Faramir and I come from the land of Gondor, though my clothes don't currently reflect it." Jeans and a plain striped shirt were easiest to put on, though I do carry the knife in my boot. "Perhaps it is the darkness, but your clothing is unfamiliar to me. Not that I have any great knowledge of fashion in Middle-earth or anywhere else."

I've been away long enough to notice and pay a lot of attention.

OOC--Pardon. I'm trying to make him shut up but he might get loose. I apologize in advance.

"My name is Marcus Cole and I'm fairly certain I'm from nowhere you've heard of." He gave the man a warm enough smile. While he'd started to adjust to the village he wanted to keep his clothing from before. It was a comfort having something familiar.

"I'm sure my clothing is unfamiliar."
