The bartender is in [OTA]

Damon had discovered that he actually enjoyed bartending. Well, he enjoyed it as much as he'd enjoy anything where he actually had to work. Guiseppe, Conte di Salvatore was probably rolling in his grave somewhere at the idea of his eldest son and heir actually putting in a day's work at anything other than hawking or wenching, but, really, Damon ( Read more... )

Coming in after an excruciatingly boring class at the community college, Wendy observed the space as she walked into P3 with her usual taste for whiskey.

Usually, she'd wait for work to drink, or indulge in some of the whiskey she kept in her room, but being that her legs were almost frozen from the walk so far and she still had a bit to go, she decided to pop into P3. Plus, she had never been there before and was curious as to what it looked like.

"Anybody ever tell you tricks are for kids?" Wendy asked somewhat teasingly as she settled on a bar stool, dropping her textbook on the stool to her left and considering whether to take her jacket off or not.

Damon cast the girl a sideways look, still playing with the bottle, though paying it less attention. He did at least stop drumming his heels on the bar as he gave her a slow once over, and then smirked. "Well, if you ask my brother, he'll tell you I never bothered to grow up, so that would be appropriate."

He flipped the bottle in the air, caught it, then set it down. "What can I do for you?"

"Jack straight up to start, please. After that, we'll see what you can do." She said with a grin, deciding to take her jacket off and thaw. "It'll be more fun that way. 'Cause I mean, swingin' the bottles 'round isn't so impressive if it don't taste right in the end." Wendy replied.

Damon gave her another appraising look, then spun on the bar and dropped lightly back behind the bar, flashing her a smile. "You make a valid point," he agreed, and reached for a bottle of Jack. He did still make a show of flipping it for the fun, because, really, what the hell was the point of the job if he wasn't going to have fun--he could charm or demand anything he needed out of anyone--and poured her a drink, making one for himself as well, before handing hers over and leaning against the bar. "I promise you...I can be impressive at anything."

"Well, that's boring." Wendy said with a bit of a laugh before a sip of her whiskey. Mmm...it had practically become like water to her now; it was and had always been her go-to drink. "I mean, something isn't impressive if you're impressive at everything. And even then, it doesn't make you talented; it just makes you spoiled."

"I never claimed not to be spoiled," Damon said with a laugh. Eldest son of an aristocrat who ran with the de Medici's...it was his birthright to be spoiled as far as Damon was concerned. "But I think if you give me a chance you'll find I'm anything but boring."

"Well, don't you have an answer for everything." She decided, sipping her cup once more.

"It's another of my gifts," Damon said with an amused smile, leaning back against the ledge behind the bar.

"I'm sure. Consider me more than thankful to the one up above for it." She teased. "Would be on my knees if I wasn't afraid of any possible fall getting up."

Damon was good and didn't make any risque comment about better things to do on her knees than pray to an absent God, just smirked slightly. "So, what's your story?"

Oh, but she loved her sexual puns. :( Nevertheless, she took another sip and scruffed up her loose, slightly damp wavy hair. "Are you lookin' for a brief summary there, or...I mean, I'm really just a Kansas girl who was too big for her small town."

"'Course I'm out of there now. Or, at least, I was; I was in NYC before getting tossed here."

"Anyone with any sense would get out of Kansas," Damon said, wrinkling his nose. Not that he'd ever done anything but fly over, but still. Kansas. "And what did you do in New York?"

"It'd probably be easier if you asked what I haven't done there." Wendy replied before another sip. "My mind's only a little slow from the various drugs, m'soul's been stirred up from all the music and shiny stuff only New York has to offer, and m'body's only got a few scars from downtown and catty girls though, so the place hasn't completely devoured me yet."

Damon laughed a little, pouring himself a glass of whiskey and leaning back against the back of the bar to sip at it, watching her. "So...quite the bad girl, are you?"

"Depends on what you consider bad. I think I'm completely reasonable; I share, I care, and I don't bullshit." Wendy replied plainly.

"Fair enough," Damon allowed. "Though, mind you, my moral standards deviated from society's quite some time ago, so I'm not one to judge."
