Alissa was on her way to the forest when she caught the movement in the shop. It was early and the movement was strange, so she stopped. It was a boy and the boy was trying to fix a stereo. She tilted her head and watched, then decided to step inside. "What's wrong with it?" He seemed to be working rather inefficiently.

Ah, Alissa. John shouldn't be bothered by her, but he was, just a little, trying to keep that from his face as he looked at her. "Hey. It should be fixed now; I just have to put it back together. Where's your ferret?"

[ooc: I'm assuming since they've been here, they've crossed paths a few times and Cameron's kept him informed of what's been going on :)]

"In the room. He's not supposed to be out of his cage unless on a leash." A lesson Alissa was told by Cameron and had learned the hard way. She stepped closer and looked at the electronic device. It was of an inferior design, she noted.

(ooc: sure! Does she know him as John Baum or John Connor?)

"He got loose, I hear. And you found him?"

Amused, John watched Alissa look at the machine. "Want to help?"

[ooc: I think by now she knows who he really is. ]

She nodded. "We constructed a trap to lure him in so we could retrieve him efficiently." Humanely, but this was not a priority for Alissa to state as she explained the situation. "Ferrets are very fast. Four legs help increase the ability for speed."

Alissa looked up to John and nodded. She could put it together on her own, but she understood the context of 'help' as well. "What do you need help with?"

Hearing her talk about a ferret like that made John laugh, though he tried to stifle it. "I know what I'm doing, but maybe you can get it started, huh?"

Why not? She was a machine. And this wasn't his math homework.

Alissa was good at putting things together. She once took apart one of Clea's T-800s, two toasters, and a few other appliances and built her own terminator for labor purposes. She picked up some of the parts and started to put it together carefully, but skillfully. "You like fixing machines?"

{lol. WIN}

"I do," John told her, resting his elbows on the table to watch her work. "... do you?"

(It ended up looking like a Turkish midget wrestler too haha!)

"Fixing machines is a required ability." She said as she continued to do what she was doing. She looked like she was going to leave her response at that, but then added, "The tactile sensation is enjoyable." And she smiled.

[aaaaaahahahaha]

"The feeling of actually fixing it? Or just doing the work with your hands?" Interesting. Though the smile was a little ... off. Like Cameron when she smiled.

"Both," She said after a second to process the difference. "Machines should not be broken. They should function." There was a loyalty to machines that all Skynet creations felt. It was why cars and other machinery was left untouched when they patrolled the cities. Only when it was necessary did they destroy other machines.

Loyalty, yeah right. That wasn't the word John would use. Machines didn't feel loyalty.

"What happens when they're broken?" He asked, curious, chin on his hands. "What's lost?"

"Their purpose." She inserted a part into the stereo. "Without purpose, there is no reason for existence. It's unpleasant." Alissa was used to being qualified expressions. She understood them.

"... Unpleasant?" That earned another raised eyebrow. "Do machines feel displeasure?" They couldn't. Could they?

"Most don't," She answered honestly, "Not like humans do. But models with sufficient AI such as a T-800 will feel the equivalent of displeasure if they can't complete their objective. If they fail." No purpose to exist anymore.

Alissa looked up from the Stereo. "I would feel sad."

Meeting her eyes, John took that in. "If you didn't work? Would you know you didn't work?" Asked quietly. Gently. "Can you sense if you're not working correctly?"
