Is my benediction enough to carry you through? [Arrival, Closed to Toorop]

The bullets rained around them, never touching her as she walked. Glass shattered and people shouted, her steps taking her between the cars, away from the men who would do her harm. She broke an arm of one, punched another. She fought them in a way she was never taught, but just knew.

Marie needed to be away. She needed to be safe.

She didn't pause. She walked on, through the destruction and the madness, unnoticing. Rebecca was dead, she knew that. Toorop was injured. More than that, she heard it. Heard the beep, the launch, the tracker. Heard sounds she shouldn't have been able to hear.

Marie knew what it was. She could hear their words in her head.

It's a missile, linked to my passport.

How can you stop it?

Only by death

The gun was in her hand, lifted to his stomach. He'd not expected this, Marie knew, explaining to him as best she could with the few seconds left to them.

"I need you to live."

She shot Toorop then, seeing the betrayal in his eyes. Seeing what rose in them as he looked at her. Knowing that her words were not enough, but were all she could give.

Marie stepped back, gun heavy in her hand. Stepped back, and onto cobbles. No longer in New York, but elsewhere.

[Closed debut as she's likely to freak out. Will have an open post soon!]
