At the Psych office [OTA]

Dec 11, 2008 15:07

Having your own place of work (where you were your own boss, you set your own hours, and your own payscale) had its advantages, Shawn thought. Not just because the the above, but also because he got to choose which fine beverages would nestle in the 'company' fridge. So he stood right in front of the open fridge door, cans and bottles clinking ( Read more... )

Juliet found herself standing in front of some store called Psych, staring at it like she should know what it was, but didn't. As far as she was concerned, she was supposed to be on her way to school, but this did not look like Miami. It didn't feel like Miami. It was actually freezing cold and despite her better judgement Juliet pulled open the door to the building and hurried inside. She just wanted to get inside somewhere warm.

When the heat flooded her t-shirt-and-skirt-wearing body she sighed. At least it was warm in here. She reached behind her into the side of her backpack and pulled out her emergency bag package of Frosted Strawberry Pop-Tarts. She was too busy peeling the silver foil off of the breakfast food to notice what the store was or if there was anyone in it.

Shawn was still checking around the strange place, but it did seem kinda familiar. It was full of stuff he dreamed about owning when he grew up. The door opening caught his attention, and he immediately froze, thinking up all kinda of excuses to explain why he was there.

Instead, he saw that the new arrival was just some dumb little girl.

Who had Pop-Tarts.

And he saw a toaster in the back. Oh, geez. She wasn't gonna eat those cold, was she?

"Um...hi?"

She looked up from what she was doing and saw a boy who was sort of cute if boys weren't gross and were always making noise from some place on their body. Her brothers were always doing that and it was gross.

"..hi." Juliet looked at the boy warily. Was he supposed to be here or was he hiding from the freak cold-snap too. She thought she better play it safe. "..You're not going to tell on me, are you?"

He pointed to the silver package in the girl's hand. "If you share a Pop-Tart with me, I won't tell." He started to fidget, already imagining the taste of warm, sweet, fruity filling and suddenly realizing he was a little hungry. "I know where there's a toaster."

Gus had been grooming himself in the bathroom, making sure he looked good for a possible date with Izzie. And then, all of a sudden he couldn't see the mirror. And then he had no idea where he was. Looking around, he knew he was obviously in a bathroom, but he didn't know whose bathroom it was. Until he looked up and saw a pineapple picture above the toilet.

Shawn?

Moving to the door he pulled it open, tugging until he could slip through the door. He was in some building and he had no idea what it was. Curiously, he poked his head around the corner.

"SHAWN!" he called. "WHAT DID YOU DO?"

Shawn was a little shocked to see that one of the desks in the strange place seemed to belong to him. At least, there were things of his. Or there were things marked his in handwriting that kinda looked like his...but not really.

What was this place?

He jerked at the sound of Gus's voice. Okay. Let's see. Pitch. Tone. Volume. Gus was irritated about something.

"I didn't do anything!" he called back. "I think Dad did..."

Gus ran in and stood in front of the desk. "How? I was in the bathroom and now I'm in this weird place." He looked around with a little frown. "I don't like the look of this. What if we're not supposed to be here?"

"It's not weird," Shawn said, suddenly defensive. "It's awesome!" He reached into the desk drawer and pulled out a squeeze toy. Which he proceeded to squeeze.

"Remember Dad took this thing from me last March? I found it here! It's like...filled with stuff I own or I wanna own. Maybe you'll find stuff you'll like too. Check the other desk!"

Schu had been wandering down the street, and for a while he didn't notice any change. And then, Aren had been wandering down the street, and he didn't notice any change either. Small town - check. Cold air - check. There wasn't much different from Monbrunn.

Until little Aren realized that these buildings did not exist in Monbrunn, and this road was not leading to the bakery.

He blinked a few times. He had never, ever been in a different town before. Especially not so suddenly. But, to his luck, he saw the head of someone about his age pop out of a shop called "Psych". Terror went over Aren in a wave. Did someone find out about his power? Did they send him here? But he needed to find out, and he had never been one to run away.

So he opened the door and looked in. "Hallo?"

Shawn had discovered a large bag of gummi worms hidden in one of the file cabinet drawers and he was dutifully trying to chew down on one. Unfortunately, the worms were kind of stale and they were more like munching on a very long and thin pencil eraser, like the wobbly ones you could get which came in a kind of clicking dispenser.

Tasted better than the eraser, though. Shawn knew from experience. Just because something smelled like strawberries, didn't mean it tasted like strawberries.

"Hi...?" Shawn said between chews, setting wary eyes on the new kid. The new kid with red hair. "Gummi worm?" he asked, offering the open bag to the kid.

Aren blinked at the English and nodded, coming in. After all, it was totally okay to take candy from a stranger if the stranger was another kid. He gave a slight grin took one, chewing on it in the same kind of determined way.

"Vhere are ve?" He never got to use his English much, so it was heavily accented. He'd have to thank his Dad for teaching him though, when he found him.

Shawn's eyes widened. It was rude to laugh. It really was. He could easily imagine his Dad finding out and then punishing him in awful ways like cutting back on his TV time.

But the way the kid talked. He was about to ask him to say something like 'moose and squirrel' but then Shawn realized that was the wrong type of accent.

He really should be get the kid to quote Hogan's Heroes and not Rocky & Bullwinkle.

"Hey, say 'I see nothing. I was not here. I did not even get up this morning.'"
