There was nothing better than practing how skill with the bow, except for maybing overthrowing one of the sheriff's plots, but the sheriff was not in Haurvatat. He was still back in Nottingham with Robin's men and Marian. So Robin was forced to draw on distractions as best as he could ( Read more... )

Heather had discovered a work schedule in her pocket and smiled when it dawned on her that it was hers. According to the information, she taught archery at the local dojo and decided to head over to check it out again. She didn't remember it at all but it was archery and she enjoyed archery.

As she passed the park, she looked up in time to see a man hit a perfect bullseye. Eyebrows raising slightly, the slightly bruised girl made her way over tentatively. "Maybe you should be the one teaching kids archery instead of me," she said. She was smiling slightly.

Robin turned from looking at the target to looking at the girl. "Surely your skill with a bow is good if you've been chosen to teach it." Robin smiled.

She shrugged slightly. "Yeah, I guess. I mean, not to sound like I'm bragging but when a small girl gets better grades then the other guys in her archery class at school, thats gotta mean something, right?"

She extended her hand towards the man. "Heather Mason. I teach 8 through 12 year olds archery at the dojo."

His smile widened into a grin. Marian would like this girl.

He took her hand. "I am Robin Hood. It is very nice to meet you, Heather Mason."

I am on my way to my archery area in the forest and am quite surprised to see one in the park. The man is quite skilled, it's easy to see by the way he stands and holds the bow--I don't even need to see the target to know that the shots are good. It is not a longbow he uses*, not like I do. I wonder who he is and where he could be from. Not a modern man, surely.

I wait and watch him, not wanting to distract.

*Going by the icon, Robin does not have a longbow. Feel free to ignore that and let me know if he does. Also, Faramir is in his clothing from home, which he almost always wears when he's going to practice. The cloak is Boromir's from Lothlorien, though.

Robin felt the extra eyes on him. He wanted to finish hitting the last two targets, but with the knowledge of an audience, Robin was compelled to show off, even if he would demonish the idea if it was pointed out to him. He drew two arrows from the quiver on his back, pulling them both back simultaneously on the bow and releasing them. Each arrow hit its intended target directly in the center. He smiled to himself.

You're correct. He has a Saracen Recurve bow. :)

I've never seen a bow like that, or shooting like that either.

"Was that for my benefit?" I call out. I hope it sounds friendly--I'm not mocking him in the least. That was a difficult trick that he just did, and nothing I've ever attempted.

Robin almost has to be a better shot than Faramir, though with a longbow, Faramir can shoot farther. And he has Elven heritage so there's perfect eyesight.

"It was, actually." Robin turned with a grin across his face and called back to the man. His voice held an old English accent as he spoke.

Robin walked toward the man. "But also for mine."

I agree. (Robin would wish he had Elven heritage if he knew what elves were). It does state in canon he can shoot a targe from over 100 yards away, but Faramir's longbow could probably shoot farther than that.
