Conference/war council at the Observatory (OTA, tag those interested!)

Sep 26, 2008 10:15

A meeting was taking place in the Observatory. For some it was a scientific conference, for others, a council of war. It was an attempt to share and discuss information about the village, and perhaps make plans for how to use that information to escape, or take control. A large table had been set out with chairs around it.

Avon arrived at the Observatory early, the computer called Orac cradled in his arms. He hadn't slept, but he was tense and alert. Putting the heavy computer down on the table, he got himself a large cup of black, heavily sweetened coffee, and waited for the others to arrive.

Lorelai made sure the food and drink was set out for everyone before grabbing a large cup of coffee and one of the little pastries. She'd save the other food until later.

She waved a greeting at Kerr and then moved to sit in the corner. If nothing else she could always make jokes like she did at the town meetings at Stars Hollow.

Avon waved back, then on a whim gave her a wink and a thumbs-up. The coffee was very good.

Lorelai returned his wink and raised her coffee cup in salute.

In walked the older version of the Doctor, giving the TARDIS a fond glance, and he started looking around.

Avon regarded the newcomer with interest. He got up and walked over to him, bringing his coffee. "Good morning," he said.

The Doctor was happily looking at seeing who he could recognise. He nodded at the stranger. "Hello! Are you the man who organised this?"

"Yes, I am. My name is Avon," said Avon, somewhat unnecessarily. "And you are..."

Data made it in at the time that he frequently did, though usually he was there to work. Being that he wasn't technically on duty for the Enterprise, he almost never wore his uniform anymore. He rarely had off duty; it was his way to make himself more personable. Today, though, it left him plucking cat hair off a wool sweater vest with his lips pursed in a thin, irritated line as he entered.

It was merely a scientific council to him being that he still believed in the policy of the United Federation of Planets, and he anxiously looked up to see who was attending once he was inside; to look for the mysterious stranger who, until this point, he had only met in text.

Avon saw the pale man in the wool sweater arrive, noting the not-quite-human appearance in contrast to the very human display of emotions on his face. Interesting. He nodded at the newcomer. "Good morning. I am Avon," he announced, simply, but somewhat theatrically.

He nodded at the man's greeting, approaching kindly. "Good morning. I am Data. It is a pleasure to make your acquaintance." He almost smiled. There were facial expressions, but they were for the largest part muted, in sharp contrast to how they had been when he had first activated the chip.

"Yes, likewise," murmured Avon, studying Data intently. He walked all the way around the android, inspecting him from every angle. "Remarkable. You feel human emotions - a full range of emotions? And from what you said when we communicated earlier, you are capable of eating and drinking as well. Amazing. I have met an android more human in appearance and manner - if I may say so - but as I may have mentioned, she was a replica of an existing human, not an independently sentient being. How long have you been...active?"

Amelia strode in wearing her rationals* and carrying her parasol. Her eyes swept the room, looking for the person that she'd conversed with earlier in the week.

Of course, she did not know what he looked like, having only spoken with him through the village messaging device. However, she felt sure that she would recognize Mr. Avon for who he was--as soon as she saw him.

By attitude and body language, if nothing else. She knew the type.

Avon watched the striking-looking woman enter, his head cocked to one side as he studied her. She looked extremely...intense. Powerful. He smiled twistedly in approval, saying nothing for the moment, waiting to see whether she would approach him. This should be interesting.

And there he was.

Gripping her parasol firmly, she headed toward the tall black-haired man. "The author of this meeting of minds, I presume," she said briskly, expression neutral.

Aha, Avon thought. He nodded, fixing his eyes on hers. "Indeed. My name is Avon. And you are...?"
