Willow felt her eyelids begin to drift shut, the words in the book blurring as she researched ways to help Bob enjoy food. She only closed her eyes for an instant, but it was enough. Her head slowly slumped forward onto her folded arms.
The library faded and Willow found herself standing on a vast area that was covered in black sand. She slowly turned in a circle, her eyes taking in everything but all she could see for miles was the barren landscape. When she turned back around there were footsteps in the sand leading away to a small
tent made from animal hides.
"Hello?" She wondered if this was how Buffy's Slayer dreams were like. Willow gave a squeak of fear when the tent flap opened and a woman strode out. She didn't look like how Buffy described the first slayer but she was definitely ancient looking.
"I've been waiting for you."
Alti said as she stepped outside the tent.
"Y-you have? Are you the first Slayer?"
"No, I'm a shamaness."
Willow's eyes grew wide as she realized this was the 'first Shamaness'. Wow, did she have something to tell Buffy when this was over.
"You can't. No one can know. This is between you and me, little one."
It kind of creeped Willow out that she could read her mind, but it was also kind of cool. "Uh… okay."
"You have a lot power. I can feel it buzzing through the karmic life circle. You could be one of the most powerful witches in the world and I can show you how."
That got Willow's attention right away. "Really?"
There was a flash of triumph in Alti's eyes, but it was quickly gone in the space of a heart beat. She smiled and raised her hand to softly run her hand over Willow's hair. "Really. Your power called to me in the spiritual realm and brought me to you. We'll be sharing ancient secrets between sisters through the veil of time. That's why no one can know."
Willow felt her shoulders get a little bit straighter at that revelation. She brought her hand up to zip along her lips. "Lips are sealed. I'm so secret girl."
"The fates have chosen well, little one."
Abruptly the desert landscape was gone and Willow jerked her head up with surprise. "Woah." She blinked a few times to clear the cobwebs, but she couldn't stop the goofy smile as she bent back over the research books.
