Tag Rachel Gatina, and open, of course.
I did not know what to expect at a party for the whole village, whoever wishes to come. It is large but still has a comfortable feeling, at least to me. The more familiar atmosphere of Duchess Polgara's helps me.
For once I am wearing modern clothing at an event. Black trousers and boots with one of my deep green shirts--nothing too strange. I see that there are presents under the tree and am annoyed with myself. I could have wrapped those two pieces of jewelry and put random names on them so as to give them away. I didn't think of it. Anyway, all who were in the catacombs might recall that those were mine. Bob will know the necklace, certainly. Not that he'd mind if I gave it...
I'll be back shortly. I don't even bother to take my cloak so am somewhat less composed than before. I also have a box wrapped in green paper with white stripes on it. I wish I had decoration for it but at least there is a tag. I am very careful when writing it so that no one will know who it is from. Only the very few people who are getting wrapped presents from me might recognise the paper. Sophie, Richard, and Sugar--and that's if they can see with everything else there.
That taken care of, I might sit and enjoy the music or perhaps get a drink--I wonder who all is here.
Rachel can find the present, or someone who knows her can tell her it's there. Please to not let her see him put the box under the three. Not a large box, it contains this.
All Rachel had to hear was party and she was there. Rachel's a party animal. This might not be like the parties she's used to, but it is a party. Plus, it's Christmas and it's good to have people around on Christmas.
She decided to dress up. She's in a red halter dress with a pair of gold Jimmy Choos and a matching gold bag. The dress is form fitting, but not tight and her hair is actually done up for once. She's sexy yet classy so it works.
As she walks in, she scans the room, immediately seeing him and making her way over. "Hey," She says with a smile, leaning in for a hug. It's Christmas and he's like one of her very good friends so he gets a hug.
"Hello." I can accept an embrace from Rachel--we seem to do fairly well as friends, even if it seems very odd. "You look very nice. I suppose red and green are the obvious choices."
I like green and have several shirts that look almost exactly the same. This one is not the one Buffy found for me.
"I have never celebrated Christmas before though this will be the third I've witnessed. I hope I do things well enough." Not that there's a right way, but I'd rather not make any large mistakes.
"You're fine." She said with a reassuring smile. "I just didn't know if you were coming. I'm happy you did though. I don't know see anyone else I know. I mean, I'm sure it wouldn't be hard to make friends, but familiar faces are better on holidays." Does that make any sense?
"It seems after two years, I am finally doing something for this holiday. Of course, my lady does celebrate it and I was alone, mostly, the other years. Although there was a large tree that they put in the compound and decorated. That was last year. I liked it." I like the ones here, too. "They had to find and makes things to put on it. Now I see what they meant by things you can buy."
They both have their ways about them.
"I've never had to do presents before. I wasn't sure if I should give one to my brother or not since we do not celebrate the holiday. His lady does, so it made sense to give one." I smile. "Poor Shasta will likely need a bigger room. Everyone he knows will likely give him something."
She nodded and took the seat next to him. "What about you? I know I've got something for you and I can't be the only one." He's a sweetheart. How Mouth is to Tree Hill, Faramir is to Haurvatat. Kind of.
"I have several already, the first being for solstice. I've never really had a present like that before, not from anyone except my brother." It still feels strange but in a good way.
"I put your present under the tree." I am rather embarrassed. I did not expect to speak with her like this, just for her to find it and not know where it came from. "I will go get it for you."
It looks plainer than ever, though the wrap is neat. Just white stripes on green and a tag.
"I've never wrapped presents before either." I didn't realise you can get the bows already made--I thought you had to make them and I did not dare try.
"Oh, thanks. I wasn't expecting anything." She said with a giddy smile. "It looks fine. I'm not great at wrapping either. I usually just buy the Christmas looking boxes." She said with a shrug. "I knew I should have brought your gift with me." She said, thinking if there was anyway she could run back and get it or something. "Can I open it?" She wants to open it.
(ooc: Sorry. I'm in the middle of packing and getting ready for a flight so I'm all over the place.)
"I do not expect anything and people keep giving me things." I won't say any more for now because this really is something that I just had, strange as it may seem. "Of course you may open it."
I was on the verge of saying no just to be difficult but decided not to.
Not a problem. I'm working on the mod master list of information and it's eating my brain. Present is this.
"Well, your gift is back at the room because I wasn't sure if you were coming, but I'll make sure you get it." She said with a nod. "You deserve something for listening to me all the time." She said with a slight laugh before finally moving to open her gift.
She's curious as to what he's got her, what he thinks she'll like. She opens it up and her face shows a bit of shock. It's jewelry and not just costume jewelry. It's real. It's real gold, real pearls. It's gorgeous. "Oh my god, it's beautiful. Faramir, thank you so much." Let her marvel at it for a moment.
"Yeah, but I've got a whiny girl voice." She says as if it's a competition. It's all in good fun though. "Help me put it on?" She says turning with her back towards him. It's a good thing she didn't wear that heart necklace tonight.
"All right." It would be awkward to put on not be able to see, although the clasp is large enough--the piece is heavy even though it's graceful. I'm accustomed to working through my own hair, a much bigger mess than hers could ever be. "There. The clasp isn't too difficult--taking it off will be simple enough."
I think it looks fine with what she's wearing. I nod and smile.
"Really, you could tell me if it's looks out of place with the dress. I rather you do that than give me BS." She said with a shrug, sort of wishing for a mirror.
"I do not lie, Rachel, that is not why I'm laughing." I may as well tell her.
"The truth is that it was one of the things given to me from the catacombs and, while it really does look very good on you, it does not suit me. It seems a waste for it to sit and I was fairly certain you'd like it. It is very beautiful." Cough. "The main reason I was laughing is that I have only one thing left from that experience. It suits me not at all, nor my lady, nor can I imagine anyone wearing it."
It would make an interesting sculpture.
"I did consider trying to give it to you instead but I wished for us to remain friends."
"Alright, well, what is it?" She says as she settles back into her chair beside him, curious and sort of prepared for it to be something completely ridiculous.

I have my present, and it all worked out so well.
