The brothers MacDonald, suitably plied with food and beer (well, half of them were plied with beer) have instruments out and are playing Christmas tunes.

Calum rolled his eyes and retrieved his beer as Colin raised his harmonica to his lips, foot absently tapping the beat against his chair leg as he started to play.

Whistle sufficiently wet, Calum lifted his fiddle again and joined in seamlessly with his brother, starting to sing. "I'll be home for Christmas, you can count on me . . ."

It was a military man's song, and military men sang it. You just had to deal with that one. Shane's voice wasn't bad. On key, at least, although you couldn't do much about how rough it was.
