Auditioning for Beatriceluvlianjel_yuriJuly 13 2012, 16:50:08 UTC
Yuri was ready for this. She could have gone the singer/actress/model route after university but had been recruited by the 3WA instead. That didn't mean there wasn't acting bug left.
Besides, Beatrice had the sass, and for theatre you couldn't beat Shakespeare.

"All right," Yuri said with a nod as she stepped to the left.
Her posture changed as she began. Beatrice's best material (she felt) was working off of Benedick, but she didn't have that now. She did have a woman ahead of her time with regard to men and was trying to play that up a bit, while keeping the rhythm of the old-fashioned language.
Yuri was glad she'd worn a dress: it was easier to remember to keep her movements 'correct'. No 3WA uniforms back then--Beatrice wasn't that modern.

It was true, Beatrice was at her best when she was playing off Benedict, but Martha wanted to get an idea of who would be best before playing off other auditionees.
She could play her, she thought to herself once she had finished. But the question is would she work well off others? "How about if I read in Benedict in another scene?" she suggested.

Martha read through the part of Benedict - she knew the play so well - with very little trouble. The girl had some talent, it was true. She just didn't know if she was right for Beatrice, until she'd seen everyone else.

"Thank you, and so are you." Yuri smiled. "But you knew that."
The woman knew her stuff, and this play.
"More, or enough for now?" She could keep going all day or shut up and let what she'd given speak for itself. She'd done well but certainly nothing like a finished performance.

"Do you want me to just read to start with? It would be great to work with someone, but maybe that's later." She was ready for either.

Actually, she could almost see Kei in this role but... Shakespeare and Kei? No way.
She was imagining Benedick looking a lot like Tristan, who was old-fashioned yet naughty in his way. It worked.

"Very good," she said encouragingly.

"I think I have enough for now," she said with a nod. She could see easily see which part Yuri would be good for.

She was fairly confident, but there were several auditioning for the part--including Anne. Anne would be good at it, too.
